We are looking for an Institutional Portfolio Manager (IPM) to join the Global Equity Group in Singapore to support a variety of domestic, international, and global equity investment strategies across Asia Pacific. The IPM is responsible for representing their investment team externally. The IPM will meet with clients, prospects, and intermediaries to explain the investment philosophy, process, and performance of specific investment products. The IPM will serve as an integrated member of the investment team, focusing on partnership with key distribution channels to support business growth and the retention of assets.

What are the ongoing responsibilities of this position?
  • Communicate the investment philosophy, process, and performance of specific equity products in both a client service and sales capacity for both mutual funds and separate accounts to Retail Financial Consultants, RIA's and smaller retirement consultants (primarily utilized by Franklin Templeton distribution
  • Independently act as a "proxy" for portfolio managers by serving as the main investment contact for clients and/or intermediaries. Works closely with the Distribution team and Client Relationship Managers to help establish new relationships and maintain/grow existing client relationships
  • Promotes, defends, and competitively positions the product line and is actively involved in global distribution initiatives, institutional and retail client service
  • Work with CIO to demonstrate ownership, strategic direction-setting and prioritization
  • Has ownership in gathering and retention of assets under management by providing clients, prospects, internal partners with ongoing insights about the investment philosophy, process, and performance of specific products
  • Provides PM perspective to internal business partners including Sales and Marketing and partners closely with Global Marketing to create strategic/ global messaging and investment content for assigned investment strategies
  • Responsible for challenging and validating appropriateness of investment strategy and process to meet the clients' stated needs within the agreed guidelines
  • Stays abreast of identified market trends and the competitive landscape, along with the relative positioning of their investment team
  • Serves as first point of contact to the RFP team for complex investment questions
  • Contributes as needed to investment commentaries or thought leadership pieces
  • Creates and facilitates investment content and product set messaging


What qualifications, skills and experience would help someone to be successful?
  • Bachelor's degree required; CFA or advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum 10 years of financial services experience; previous experience as a product/portfolio specialist desired
  • Modules 3 and 6 are required, may be exempted from M6 if certain requirements are met
  • Knowledge of equity markets, modern portfolio theory, and performance attribution
  • Ability to articulate all facets of the investment process and strategy on behalf of investment team
  • Demonstrated ability to conceptualize external feedback and industry trends into the investment team's process
  • Effective relationship management skills and demonstrated credibility with investment team and distribution teams
  • Effectively deliver presentations on complex financial and economic topics to a broad audience.
  • Ability to analyze and effectively present performance results
  • Ability to support business development and client retention efforts
  • Ability to conduct fundamental research while contributing to the investment decision making process.
  • Experience with the latest risk management, portfolio construction tools and methodologies and portfolio analytical tools
  • Knowledge of investment vehicles, pricing structures and distribution channels
  • Flexible, resourceful, and proactive
  • Extensive travel required (likely 40-60% of time)
