We are looking for a Senior Analyst - Portfolio and Risk Analytics to join the Emerging Market Equities team in Singapore. This position will actively work within the investment team as well as with Franklin Templeton's independent risk team to review potential portfolio exposures and integrate that analysis into the ongoing management of the team's funds. The Senior Analyst - Portfolio and Risk Analytics will have strong quantitative skills which will assist the portfolio management team with asset allocation and with enhancing investment returns at controlled levels of risk. This position will report directly to the Chief Investment Officer.

What are the ongoing responsibilities of this position?
  • Develop tools and techniques to analyze and display portfolio risks versus their benchmarks
  • Collaborate with Portfolio Managers to help them understand portfolios' risk exposures and integrate the analysis into their stock selection and portfolio construction decisions.
  • Help lead the introduction of 'best in class' approaches to risk management in portfolio construction, and work with the CIO and PMs to build these practices into regular processes.
  • Serve as the key contact for Franklin Templeton's independent risk team
  • Contribute to the development of technology infrastructure for modeling, optimization, back-testing, analytics, and data management
  • Collaborate with risk, FTT and others to drive improvements to systems, investment and trading processes
  • Present our risk management philosophy and processes to clients and internal partners

What qualifications, skills and experience would help someone to be successful?
  • Bachelor's degree. Master's degree, and FRM or CFA preferred
  • At least 10 years experience in an investment risk or quantitative analytics role
  • Relevant experience in buy-side
  • Strong quantitative skills, with the ability to adjust and manipulate data to discover trends and relationships
  • Experience communicating complex financial topics with the ability to successfully articulate quantitative concepts to audience(s) unfamiliar with those same concepts
  • Experience consulting with financial professionals, including Portfolio Managers and Chief Investment Officers
  • Self- starter, highly motivated, and capable of delivering output independently as well as in a team environment
  • Excellent organization, communication, and a diligent approach to problem solving are required
  • Advanced knowledge of statistical theory and a good understanding of financial instruments and markets
  • Experience with Northfield, Barra, FactSet, Bloomberg or similar investment data
