The team

Schroders Business Consultancy is Schroders' internal management consultancy function. The function provides services to the entire Schroders Group, these functions include Finance, Procurement, Tax, Treasury, HR, Compliance, Risk, Internal Audit, Legal, Company Secretariat, Corporate Communications, Corporate Services. The team works together across e.g. to deliver strategy and business model design, target operating models, large-scale complex transformation and change management

Who we're looking for

We're looking for an experienced Head of Business Change to join us. You must have the ability to work with senior stakeholders, functional leads and technology resources to deliver tangible outcomes for Schroders. A delivery focussed individual, with experience of corporate functions, specifically within financial services institutions, ideally AM or WM experience There is a heavy dependency on stakeholder management as there is a need to liaise regularly with senior leaders across the business on both a regional and global basis to keep them informed on the status/progress of all Group & Regionally led change initiatives. This role requires the leadership, management and mentoring of a small but dynamic team as well as any programme seconded SMEs. Involvement in a range of consultancy assignments and other activities which may include:
  • Strategy:
    • Using strategy formation approaches to facilitate the definition of business strategies through working with relevant business stakeholders
    • Development of vision statements and business models for discrete business areas
    • Research initiated to address gaps in knowledge relating to a specific business issue
  • Operating Models:
    • The creation of Target Operating Models (TOMs) for discrete business domains and functions, using standard Schroders methodology
    • Business analysis to support capability design, process analysis and organisational transformation
  • Change Management:
    • Creation of business cases for initiatives under consideration, with the aim of concluding on the potential value add / cost-benefit analysis of embarking on that initiative. (Encompasses financial analysis, definition of business drivers, assessment of risks etc.)
    • Advisory to the Steering Committee for projects / programmes of work with the aim of ensuring successful delivery and maintenance of strategic programme objectives
    • Partnering with business and programme teams to clarify priorities, stakeholder management, design governance, and TOM implementation activities.
    • Advisory on the Schroders' Change portfolio, and creation of high-level plans / roadmaps to implement change

What you'll do
  • Lead the delivery of consulting assignments and/or assist with very large / complex assignments
  • Contribute to business development and prioritisation of the pipeline of potential Business Consultancy work
  • Build positive relationships with senior stakeholders within the organisation
  • Operate as a role model for the rest of the Business Consultancy team and wider change teams within the organisation through leading by example
  • Drive the agenda for the team through coming up with ideas for service proposition design, thought leadership and the injection of innovative ideas and ways of thinking - and driving, mentoring and leading others to build, develop and put these in place
  • Challenge conventional methods and proactively share knowledge and experience with the team
  • Act as a mentor for other members of the wider change community within the organisation
  • Build a presence and reputation for their skillset and impact within the wider industry

What you'll need
  • At least 10 years of experience either in a management consultancy role, or as a high-performing business change analyst in a financial institution within Asset Management or Wealth Management environment
  • Experience in managing a team, leading strategy development, large-scale change implementation, driving proposition and thought leadership development
  • Knowledge in investment business lines, such as Public Markets (e.g. Equities, Fixed Income, Multi-Asset), Private Markets (e.g. Private Equity, Real Estate, Private Debt) and Wealth Management.
  • Familiar with key functions of an investment manager, e.g. Front, Middle and Back Office, Distribution, Product Development, Technology and Corporate Functions
  • Experience leading multiple large and complex consultancy assignments concurrently
  • An understanding and experience of iterative delivery methodologies, such as Agile and Scaled Agile
  • Significant understanding and experience of change management disciplines, processes and tools, such as:
    • The key stages and lifecycle of change delivery
    • Stakeholder Management  Planning and progress tracking mechanisms
    • Monitoring and managing issues, risks and dependencies
    • Governance and reporting

What will be good to have
  • IMC
  • Professional or higher level degree qualifications (e.g. CIMA, CFA)
  • Relevant Change Management qualifications (e.g. Agile/Scrum, Prince II)
