The Associate Director (AD) is responsible for providing oversight and guidance to a group of investment professionals within the region (post early career investor development program, pre-Managing Director). The individual will contribute to broad strategic initiatives and lead investment-oriented projects across the investment platform in the region as well as the Singapore office. In addition, the AD will play a key role in attracting, motivating, developing and retaining investment talent from the local market. The position is based in Singapore and will report to Director, Investments Asia (Singapore).

Responsibilities will include:
  • Oversight and guidance of a sub-set of investment professionals in the region
  • Integrate regional investment talent
  • Organize and lead investor initiatives, fostering communication and collaboration in Asia
  • Support the Director, Investments (Asia) in all project work and broader strategic initiatives in the region
  • Examples of projects could include: research and development of new strategies; understanding 'gaps' in potential product offering; build out of Shanghai office investment team
  • Represent the firm and the needs of the investors with key external vendors including the sell side, consultants, and technology service providers
Activities will include:
  • Work in close partnership with Director Investments, Asia in the day-to-day management of investment professionals
  • Work with the APAC Investment platform management team to drive performance management process, investor development initiatives in APAC, support the build out of the investment platform
  • Understand the comprehensive needs of the investment teams across the APAC region, both to ensure the investor talent bench is equipped to provide leverage today and to build and develop the requisite skills to successfully progress investment talent.
  • Work with the Hong Kong HOO on HK/Greater China related initiatives including planning around rapidly evolving regulatory landscape
  • Attend weekly calls and team meetings with the Asia investment platform management team, investor team meetings and ad hoc project related meetings
  • Spend time with investors in the region, understanding philosophy and process, pain points, and attending company meetings and research trips

Key qualifications include:
  • 8+ years of relevant professional experience and leadership experience;
  • Proven experience in managing a diverse and inclusive team, oriented towards coaching and delivering feedback;
  • Credibility to engage productively with senior investors and leaders, including ability to constructively challenge status quo and solve problems;
  • Ability to navigate stressful situations with poise; focused on being a calming presence, active listener and pragmatic problem solver;
  • A passion for the investing business and for the capital markets - a student of the industry
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to articulate and integrate numerous viewpoints and mobilize/influence across all levels of the organization, including senior leaders;
  • Superior organizational skills with a results orientation. The ability to manage, prioritize and complete multiple projects simultaneously is necessary; andStrong academic credentials; MBA and/or CFA (or equivalent) is preferred
