The Role:
Responsible for support for business management activities and development and execution of regional strategy for the Asia Pacific business. This role will cover M&G's activity across the entire Asia Pacific region - currently consisting of Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, Japan, Korea and Australia - and also entry into newer markets. The role spans distribution (wholesale and institutional channels) and investment / asset management activities (which currently consists of real estate, private assets origination and listed equities).
Key Work Level Accountabilities:

• For people managers, accountable for managing and motivating others to ensure quality of delivery to customers and stakeholders
• For technical specialists, accountable for delivering expert advice or service, using specialist knowledge and subject matter expertise
• Applies judgement to deliver outcomes, evaluating a range of potential solutions, considering the impact for customers, cost and risk
• Manages conflicts that may impact delivery
• Challenges upwards given knowledge of delivery and awareness of complex systems and the broader picture
• Identifies and anticipates need for changes to continuously improve quality and efficiency of output
• Manages resources and risks using expert judgment, know-how and experience
Key Responsibilities for this role:
• Support the Head of Strategy and Business Development, Asia Pacific on the formation as successful implementation of APAC strategic initiatives delivery:
o Assist in planning, supervision and coordination of key activities and initiatives for the business relating to business planning, development and oversight (e.g. resourcing and structure proposals).
o Develop a mechanism and ongoing tracking of sales activities, AUM and revenue growth of the business and evaluate the progress vs budget plan on a regular basis.
o Production of ongoing management reports to M&G senior leadership in London, MGI board in Hong Kong and Singapore and Asia Executive Committee.
o Preparation for internal and external meetings, conference calls, presentations, industry events, etc. for the Head of Asia Pacific
o Assist in/drive execution of approved strategic plans and business projects including but not limited to new market or channel entry, new regulatory licence application, new investment capability build up
• Assist the Head of Strategy and Business Development, Asia Pacific to develop and review the regional strategy for the business by:
o Monitoring and conducting market research in areas including asset management industry developments, investor trends, competitors' activities and market opportunities
o Help with the preparation of strategic business cases and manage the relevant internal approval process
o Benchmark progress vs strategic targets and understand rationale for performance
o Support the annual business planning process, bringing a strategic perspective to budgeting and forecasting
o Support rollout of new initiatives including licence application, new market entry etc
Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
• Bachelor or above degree with minimum 10 years' experience in Financial Services, with experience in global / international asset management.
• Knowledge of Asia Pacific asset management industry, specifically trends in and considerations around wholesale and institutional distribution in Asia Pacific, ideally in the key priority market channels for M&G.
• Strong time and project management skills, with the ability to manage short and longer-term priorities and the flexibility to produce high quality work under pressure, tight deadlines and under changing circumstances. Takes an enabling approach to drive initiatives forward and sees projects through to completion.
• Be a team player and proactive self-starter
• Possesses strong written communication skills with the ability and confidence to express ideas and opinions in a thoughtful manner with robust supporting evidence to audiences of all seniority.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint
