The incumbent will assist the Singapore Head of Tax to support AIA Group's Singapore and Brunei insurance business units in tax risk management and manage the business units' tax affairs including but not limited to:-
  • Corporate Income Tax (Singapore and Brunei)
  • Goods and Services Tax;
  • Withholding Tax, FATCA and CRS filing obligations
  • Transfer pricing
  • Commission reporting for Tied Agents
  • Tax accounting including deferred tax

Other key responsibilities:-
  • Ensure statutory tax compliance for both direct and indirect taxes including timely filing of statutory returns, compliance with tax legislations and practices and managing tax regulators for early closure of the business units' tax affairs.
  • Assist in the annual Budget exercise to forecast tax related expenses. Manage and review of the monthly, quarterly and year-end tax provision calculations including providing insights on the month on month fluctuations of the effective tax rate (ETR) and explain variances (if any) against the forecasted ETR.
  • Tax governance and controls, including process improvement activities to streamline and improve overall effectiveness of the tax function. Join us in our journey for applying and delivering digital tax solutions including the use of Robotics Process Automation and Data Analytics.
  • Review transactions, contracts and provide timely and effective advice

Requirements:-
  • You are a competent tax professional with at least 5 years of post-qualification experience in a major accounting firm and/or commercial experience with an insurance company or financial institution. You possess a good degree and/or have accumulated professional qualifications in Tax.
  • You have demonstrated ability to work in a complex, demanding and dynamic environment.
  • You are resourceful, independent and are an excellent communicator with ability to drive agendas, deliver results and manage stakeholders well.
  • You work well under pressure and tight deadlines to deliver consistently good quality output on timely basis
  • You are also a team player with maturity to deal with all levels of staff, businesses and regulators
  • You are highly analytical, self motivated, energetic, versatile and confident.
  • You possess good computer and system skills
  • Practical experience of life insurance tax computations, on-going developments on FRS117/ RBC2 and its impact on insurance businesses, taxation of investment instruments and/or GST would be advantageous
