Job Description
Morgan McKinley is working in partnership with a Global Bank who is well known for their top tier Corporate and Investment Banking services. They are one of the well-recognized tier one houses.

The Singapore team is looking for a VP hire to join their Client Tax advisory team which is under the wider Private Banking COO department. You will be presented opportunity to drive and develop tax framework, process change and improve to tax controls and governance. The key client tax domains are FATCA, AEI & QI for the team.

Role and responsibilities
  • Opportunity to drive and develop the Tax framework in PB APAC in close collaboration and partnership with business partners across the bank.
  • Think and plan strategically such that Tax initiatives can be embedded effectively within existing/ongoing TOM projects.
  • Gain exposure to key front-to-back business processes thereby allowing you to actively identify and assess Tax risks across Private Banking (PB) APAC and design creative solutions to handle, mitigate and supervise identified risks.
  • Drive improvements to Tax controls and governance.
  • Manage internal / external auditors, Controls & Testing Assurance team or any regulatory inspections, addressing any gaps identified and tracking & monitoring the related actions items to closure.
  • Represent PB in regional and global Tax forums as well as drive the tax agenda within the relevant PB governance forums.
Key requirements
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant working experience in a financial institution
  • Strong preference for persons with at least 5 years' experience working in private banking front office, strategy, business management or risk functions. Proficiency of client tax compliance requirements is advantageous
  • Outstanding organizational and project management skills to plan a long-term delivery and track progress against achievements.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure to deliver outcomes in adherence to project timelines.
  • Given that Tax is a focus topic for PB, excellent presentation and business partner management skills is crucial to build support and engagement on the topic.
  • Outstanding strategic and analytical thinking with a results-oriented attitude and pragmatic implementation capabilities.
  • A positive 'can-do' attitude is critical to own and drive the Tax agenda
  • The highest professional work ethic and performing fully in line with compliance standards, internal and external guidelines and regulatory policies
  • You are dedicated, hardworking and can work on own initiative whilst also working collaboratively and deliver on time with a high level of integrity, sense of urgency, attention to detail and quality standards
