Investment Investment Associate - Infrastructure and Real Assets - Premium Private Equity Fund

Your new company

You could join an industry-leading private fund that has global reach and a reputation for excellence. You would join their high-achieving team as an Associate and receive second-to-none exposure to private markets.

The company employs 400 staff and is headquartered in London but holds offices all over the world from Tokyo to Hong Kong, Berlin, New York and San Francisco. Having been an investor in private equity, private debt, infrastructure and real assets for 40 years, this company wields unparalleled experience in private markets and commands $80bn AUM.

What you would gain

You would learn from the best in the business, be offered a bespoke coaching programme, receive a competitive remuneration/benefits package and excellent progression opportunities.

The mandate of the team you would be joining is generalist but they do a lot of work on Digital, Sustainable Transport, Renewables and Energy transition and with their commitment to ESG, they do not touch areas like oil.

Their infrastructure fund is growing immensely, having enjoyed a 6-fold increase in size over the past 6 years (from $3bn to $18bn).

This opportunity is to join a fund of funds but 80-90% of your time would be spent on deals/transactions for direct infrastructure investments. 10% of your time would be spent on fund investments since these are quicker and easier to carry out.

The deal flow in this team is much higher than at traditional infra houses since you need not spend any time on pitching or asset management. The fund deploys $1-1.5bn per year and this is rapidly growing. The team are now on their 4th generation fund - both the 3rd and 4th gen funds were oversubscribed and had to be increased.

As an Associate in the Infrastructure and Real Assets Investment Team you will also enjoy consistent progression, excellent work-life balance (most days you will leave the office at 5:30pm, when on a deal you will leave at 7pm), an approachable culture, a budget dedicated to your learning and development and excellent deal exposure.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Use financial models to conduct desk research and create investment proposals
  • Monitor industry trends and conduct sector research with an eye to ascertaining how market developments influence your portfolios
  • Communicate your analysis to other teams to assist in preparing pitch books, client materials and external publications
  • Work with the RFP team and clients to engage in fundraising meetings
  • Prepare for and keep minutes from due diligence meetings and reference calls for deals
  • Collaborate with the Investment Structuring Team and Legal Team to assist in closing deals
  • Strictly adhere to compliance laws, regulations, and the company's code of best practices
  • Liaise with GPs at AGMs, industry events, deal meetings to maintain relationships and develop new business

You will hold the following skills and attributes

  • Experience of infrastructure deals in either a buy side, advisory, consulting or industry role
  • Very strong financial modelling skills, particularly DCF
  • Competent at interpreting financial statements and metrics
  • Exceptional soft skills - high level of professionalism, judgement, discretion, interpersonal skills, problem solving abilities, ability to learn quickly, take initiative, and pay attention to detail
  • Fluency in an additional European language is a plus
  • University degree in a numerate discipline or CFA/ACA qualification is advantageous
  • Full eligibility to work in the UK

If you hold 2-5 years of experience, this could the ideal next step in your career. Salary and seniority will be adjusted based on your experience. Submit an application to find out more!
