Job Description

Banking and Capital Markets (BCM) is the largest business group within CIB APAC, comprising of Coverage (Financial Institutions (FIG), Corporate Banking (CBG), Global Institutional Client Group (GICG)), Products (Debt Capital Markets (DCM), Global Payments Services (GPS), Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A)), and Portfolio Management & Loan Syndications (PMLS).

The Role
The Vice President, Lead Business Execution Consultant, IBCM role ('Role') reports directly to the APAC Banking & Capital Markets COO, playing a key role in supporting the Investment Banking & Capital Markets (IBCM) business and related activities in the region. This role specifically supports IBCM business leaders and employees in day-to-day business management, specific projects, relevant legal entity matters, strategy development and execution. The success of this role centers around being entrepreneurial and independently establishing close partnerships with stakeholders, including business, product partners, risk and control functions, both locally and abroad.

Key Responsibilities

Supporting the Regional and BCM Strategy
  • Drive the strategic planning process for IBCM - engage stakeholders, collate feedback, synthesize messages and build plans
  • Track business performance, developing appropriate risk and performance reporting based on stakeholder feedback
Providing Business Management and Oversight
  • The role will have business management responsibility within APAC BCM, specifically, but not limited to the Investment Banking & Capital Markets functions, currently (M&A, DCM, GICG), as well as licensed activities of coverage bankers.
  • Implement ongoing business management disciplines including collaboration, pipeline management, activity tracking, account planning, forward calendars, portfolio reviews, etc.
  • Own and Coordinate the drafting of Business updates for various governance meetings, including preparing presentations and discussion documents for various leaders' meetings
  • Be an active member of regional / local forums
  • Serve as secretary to the APAC DCM Deal Review Council and similar forums as appropriate
  • Establish and develop strong relationships with key stakeholders, including business teams, product / coverage partners and support teams
  • Work with business, compliance and legal on licensing framework, appropriate supervision, control as well as finance on legal entity costing and reimbursement
  • Scrutinize direct and attributed costs, driving cost cuts where possible
  • Review Travel, Client and Gift expenses, ensuring alignment with Global and Regional Policies
  • Assist in the development and implementation of regional policies and procedures
  • Establish and maintain communication channels between the business and control functions
  • Understand, champion and foster a robust compliance environment
  • Monitor and enforce process best practice within the business
  • Help produce and maintain business process and control mappings
  • Provide product and process subject matter expertise in risk and control assessments
Providing Regional Project Oversight and Expertise
  • Oversee all APAC IBCM related projects
  • Drive and own all related business requirements analyses
  • Drive business, simplification and regulatory change programs
  • Create, maintain and communicate project plans to regional and global stakeholders
  • Drive and manage New Products processes
  • Feed into business system / process change priority logs
  • Participate in resource prioritization discussions, proactively representing the region
  • Identify efficiencies in business processes work with the relevant stakeholders to achieve them

Requirements
  • University degree with a post graduate degree or other professional designation being advantageous
  • 10+ years of working within or directly for a Financial Institution with direct experience of Investment Banking & Capital Markets businesses and products
  • In-depth understanding of investment banking including Capital Markets, M&A, Subscription Financing as well as broad understanding of Corporate Banking products
  • Business knowledge as well as exposure to APAC regulatory regimes
  • Proficient multi-tasker with experience in running multiple concurrent projects, especially strategy development and execution
  • Detail orientated, proactive problem solver with strong numerical, verbal and analytical skills, with ability to gather and analyze data from multiple sources
  • Ability to make timely and independent judgment decisions while working in a fast-paced and results-driven environment
  • Ability to develop partnerships and collaborate with other business and functional areas
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Broad conceptual thinking and work-planning skills
  • Intellectual curiosity and desire to learn potentially new subject matter
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (VBA a plus) and PowerPoint
  • Mandarin language skills a plus, but not required
