The Role / responsibilities:

The opportunity is for an Senior Vice President/ Manager to take on management responsibility for a rating team in Singapore that covers a growing portfolio of companies in South and South East Asia. The portfolio covers a range of sectors and asset classes, including property, gaming and ASEAN high yield.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of four analysts. The focus of this team is to provide insightful credit analysis and research, manage Moody's relationships with corporate issuers in the South and South East Asia region, ensure rating accuracy, and engage proactively on investor and intermediary outreach, as well as execute on broader franchise development inititaives such as MAP and methodological outreach. The candidate will be accountable for the team meeting its objectives in these areas.

As manager of the team, this Senior Vice President will drive constructive relationships with senior level executives from major companies on ratings matters, drive the team's research activity on broad sector topics as well as issuer-specific research, and serve as the key senior spokesperson for Moody's across the South and South East Asia region on credit and industry topics.

We are searching for a seasoned credit professional who demonstrates depth and experience in the areas detailed herein.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the team maintains accurate and timely ratings, with clearly articulated ratings rationale.
  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of the assigned region and drive thought leadership initiatives to enhance our analytics and high quality research impact
  • Deliver consistent best in class service to issuers through regular interaction at senior levels, including annual review meetings, transparency meetings and ad hoc meetings as necessary.
  • Develop and implement a research strategy for the team. Review research reports to ensure the team delivers timely and insightful research.
  • Enhance Moody's franchise by actively participating in outreach events such as investor briefings, teleconferences and conference participation as opportunity arises, in order to ensure Moody's view is consistently communicated to market participants.
  • Manage and allocate team workloads within team resource constraints and balancing service to issuers and investors with maintenance of a healthy work life balance within the team.
  • Provide clear direction to team, ensure ongoing professional development of the analysts, and support talent development
  • Maintain an active dialogue with Ratings & Process Oversight and other key internal groups
  • Actively support Cultural of Excellence as well as business transformation initiatives
  • Undertake and coordinate ad hoc projects as directed by AMD
  • Adhere to applicable codes of conduct, policies procedures and best practices.
  • Graduate in finance, corporate finance, accounting, economics or related discipline
  • A minimum of 10-12 years of relevant credit or analytical experience, with south and southeast Asia focus preferred, gained from a financial institution, asset management, public accounting firm, or proven equivalent
  • Think strategically and execute strategies within a team and/or across the franchise
  • Deep understanding of regulatory regimes, key market dynamics, project finance and emerging issues that may affect the portfolio
  • Ability to effectively coach and develop a team of analysts at various levels
  • Strong communication and presentation skills - able to communicate clearly and succinctly including the ability to articulate complex analytic and strategic issues.
  • Ability to build strong professional relationships at all levels and to represent the Moody's brand effectively
  • Credible leader with high integrity standards
  • Highly organised and efficient, with ability to multi-task and to meet tight deadlines
  • Re-think and improve processes, products, etc.
  • Written and spoken fluency in English; other ASEAN languages would be an advantage
