As the company's second line of defense, Corporate Risk - or Independent Risk Management - provides independent oversight of risk-taking activities. Independent Risk Management establishes and maintains Wells Fargo's risk management program and provides oversight, including challenges to and independent assessment of, the frontline's execution of its risk management responsibilities. We manage risk according to the Risk Management Framework and ensure all employees understand their individual accountability for managing risk. Corporate Risk roles depend on a variety of skills, including: Data analysis and synthesis, root cause analysis, change management, process management & execution, risk governance, risk strategy, risk identification & assessment, risk prevention, controls & mitigation, risk monitoring, reporting & escalation, risk systems & technology.

The APAC Independent Risk Management (IRM) group is responsible for the risk governance, leadership, and oversight of all activities in the region, ensuring compliance with established risk programs and policies on behalf of the Regional Chief Risk Officer (RCRO). The enterprise risk specialist will support the RCRO and the risk leaders in the areas where highly analytical and organizational skills are required and will have broad exposure to various risk types including Regulatory Compliance, Financial Crimes, Credit Risk, Market Risk, Liquidity Risk and Operational Risk. This role has an excellent growth opportunity.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be part of the APAC Regional Chief Risk Officer (RCRO)'s office working closely with senior leaders across the control and risk organization for implementation of enterprise risk programs and risk aggregation and reporting in support of the APAC RCRO. This role reports to Head of APAC Risk Strategy Planning & Governance (SPG) within the RCRO office.

Responsibilities
  • Support the regional risk strategy and priorities
  • Providing central coordination for risk review of products/services and other strategic/regulatory initiatives
  • Manage risk reporting to governance committees and legal entity boards
  • Manage consolidated views of risk assessments conducted in region and facilitate cross-functional meetings
  • Perform research and undertake analysis as appropriate to support RCRO and the risk leaders on policy and regulatory requirements
  • Other business activities as required to partner with the US and the other regions
Requirements
  • University degree with a post graduate degree being advantageous
  • 5+ years of working in an investment bank / wholesale banking in a business management or risk role
  • Exposure to investment / commercial banking regulatory environments across Asia Pacific
  • Understanding of risk management activities and risk management functions in banking
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proactive problem solver with excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience driving forward looking strategic plans and full lifecycle transformation
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to process multiple tasks simultaneously.
