The Role Responsibilities
This is a role within the CPBB Risk function to support work performed by the Global Business Banking Risk team. Against a backdrop of constantly evolving demands of business/organisational change such as business boundary shifts, macroeconomic challenge, cost efficiency, heightened governance requirements and regulatory scrutiny, the key responsibilities include delivery of future proof risk management processes including management information systems, adhoc/crisis risk management, staff training and development roadmap, operational risk assessments, efficiency/cost management. While the role holder is an individual contributor, the job is done through collaboration with various internal stakeholders.
Strategy

  • Awareness and understanding of CPBB's Business Banking Strategy and supporting the Global Head Business Banking Risk in the design and implementation of risk management strategies aligned with the Group's enterprise risk management framework to: (1) manage credit risks in the CPBB Business Banking portfolios, and (2) to manage other enterprise risks in collaboration with other Second Line functions.
  • Support transformation projects as the Risk point person to ensure smooth transitions and implementations, to ensure no dilution of existing risk management and the proper identification of new risks that may arise from such transformation.
Business
  • Ensure Business Banking Risk teams across the Group are aware of the wider business, economic and market conditions, particularly those that lead to emerging risks.
  • Enabling robust two-way communication and escalation on an ad-hoc basis (such as in crises management) by developing and managing a process/playbook with the Business to deliver the same.
Processes

  • Coordination with Group reporting / Hub analytics / Finance / Operations teams on developing management information systems to support robust and forward looking risk management.
  • Maintenance of Operational Risk Assessments where Global Head Business Banking Risk is Process Owner, ensuring the assessments suitably consider the impact of the product and process on relevant inherent risks, control environment and residual risks. The role holder is expected to proactively identify control gaps, record operational risk events and propose mitigation plans.
  • Track efficiency and cost management through review of Business Banking Risk team structures/capacity plans.
People & Talent
  • Development of Business Banking Risk training and certification roadmap that develops the risk capabilities necessary to meet ongoing and forward-looking business needs and plans.

Risk Management
  • Support the Global Head Business Banking Risk by participation in Business Banking-relevant enterprise risk forums/workgroups including fraud risk, model risk , information and cybersecurity risk, among others.
Governance
  • Responsible for coordination of Group Internal Audit and Credit/Enterprise Risk Review engagement for Business Banking Risk. This includes conducting read-across of issues around other markets and products; and monitoring of, and follow through with, CRM colleagues to ensure appropriate and timely closure of findings.

Our Ideal Candidate
  • 7+ years of experience in functional risk management (credit risk or enterprise risk) with strong control and/or governance experience and exposure to both retail and wholesale banking covering programme lending and discretionary lending.
  • Strong analytical power, excellent problem identification and problem solving skills with the ability to make independent decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to command the respect of a cross functional set of professionals at senior level (internal and external) working in open ended situations;
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams and tasks successfully in a fast paced and increasingly regulatory driven environment.
  • Effective in working across diverse cultures and geographies.
  • Appropriate academic training and/or experience in finance, business or accounting; Bachelor degree is a must and a post-graduate degree is desired.
