The Role Responsibilities
Strategy
  • Work with Global Head of Banca on executing the business strategic agenda, as and when required and support delivery of Banca business growth / revenue targets
Business
  • Support Global Head of Banca to continuously improve controls and process productivity and efficiency and drive a standardisation agenda for the business.
  • Engage with Country Banca teams to support business growth plans
Risk Management
  • Strengthen first line operational risk management in Banca by ensuring there is a framework for effective management of operational risks across the product / business and compliance with applicable internal policies, and external laws and regulations
  • Support rollout of Enterprise Risk Management Framework (ERMF), including the Banca Operational Risk Framework (ORF) agenda and drive the monthly Residual Risk Assessment process on behalf of the Global Head of Banca in coordination with the Banca country teams
  • Establish audit readiness within Banca globally and act to minimise audit failures
  • Support zero audit overdue findings and maintenance of Established Management Control Awareness ratings for all Banca audits
  • Drive and support other control initiatives for Banca
Governance
  • Embed the revise Group Conduct Management Framework (including Conflicts of Interest) in Banca and drive ongoing monitoring and adherence across the Global and Country Banca teams.
  • Work with Global Head of Banca and COO WM Product to establish an optimal control and operating infrastructure aligned to business objectives
  • Prioritise business operating issues with the Global Head of Banca including troubleshooting of specific problem areas and take proactive measures to identify and manage forward looking risks.
  • Oversee the reporting of insurance metrics on products
  • Work with control functions / COO team to comply with the highest standards of regulatory conduct and compliance standards as defined by internal and external requirements.
  • Management of Insurance Product Provider & Product Oversight discussions to provide governance oversight on existing risks and emerging trends
  • Ensure that identified risks are subject to appropriate remedial action, escalated to the relevant committee if required and followed through to closure.
Process
  • Deliver and maintain optimal global design standards for business and products related processes are fit for business purpose. Work with Compliance to ensure adherence to Conduct-related matters and regulatory standards / requirements. This includes end-to-end assessment of operational risk, establishing and maintaining relevant assurance checks and risk metrics to manage operational risks, act on breaches, and approve or remediate deviations from global standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement of processes to improve client experience and efficiency

  • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. Our Ideal Candidate
  • 12+ years experience in control & governance or Banca / WM product related role
  • Market Knowledge: Awareness and understanding of the Bancassurance business. Sound knowledge across process, controls and operations in the remit.
  • Process Management: In depth knowledge of process management.
  • Stakeholder Management: Capable team player with good communication (both written and verbal) skills
  • which help complement the overall team. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with cross-border, multi-functional, multi-cultural, multi-product teams to achieve superior results
  • Governance, Oversight and Controls: Ability to identify and assess the effectiveness of the bank's
  • arrangements to deliver effective governance, oversight and controls in the business and, if necessary, oversee changes in these areas. An understanding of the risks facing the role.
  • Good business judgment with the ability to prioritise an extensive and complex set of issues
  • Results orientation, exceptional energy and ambition to drive process and systems changes across geographies
  • Strong intellect with superior analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills
