We are looking for an experience analyst developer with either front end React/ JavaScript development experience or back-end Python data engineering experience in designing and delivering technology solutions within AWS. The base

The role will be based in our APAC regional hub in Singapore, with a mix of working from home as well as working from our central business district office in CapitaGreen.

The team

Investment Technology is one of the most sought-after capabilities in Schroders Global Technology Team for hardcore engineering talents.

The APAC investment technology team develops and supports applications used by regional/global front office business users (Fund Manager/ Product Managers / Risk Managers / Fund Performance Managers and Compliance Managers). The team supports business users in 10 countries, 7 in APAC (Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan, Indonesia and Australia) and Luxembourg, UK, US.

Investment Technology provides tooling, applications, and platforms to support the investment desks at Schroders. We're moving our technology estate to the cloud and in the process, we're re-architecting our technology stack. Our new platform is a fully serverless, event-driven architecture with the front ends built in React, and Python for all backend services.

Investment Technology aims to build a great engineering culture. Contributing to this culture will involve following good software craftmanship, TDD and writing clean code. Our systems must be well architected, tested, and easy to change. To achieve this goal, we implement mentoring and coaching through regular code reviews and pair programming. Team partners with Global teams in London in developing and maintaining APAC requirements in global platforms. The team also provides L3 Support to all Front office applications during APAC hours.

What you'll do
  • Support the Investment Technology roadmap through the application of appropriate technologies
  • Use your own initiative to suggest and implement innovative solutions across Investment Technology
  • Working with truly modern technologies to deliver innovative software which delivers the desired business outcome
  • Build solutions with a cloud-first approach • Apply Computer Science fundamentals to solve problems from start to finish
  • Maintain an understanding of industry trends and how new technologies can be leveraged to meet business goals
  • Engage actively in Agile planning including story refinement, demos, and retrospectives
  • Continually look for ways to improve your own skills and experience

The knowledge, experience, and qualifications you need
  • Experience working on AWS platform (eg. Lambda, Fargate, EventBridge, API Gateway, AppSync, SNS, SQS, S3, DynamoDB)
  • Experience on core engineering knowledge on solution design, latest technology stacks, use of TDD, Agile and DevOps. Methodologies and tools including git and CI/CD
  • Minimum 5 years of software development experience either on Front-end React programming or Back-end python technologies

If you are a Front End - React / JavaScript Programming/Developer, you should be an expert in building front end Single Page Applications with React and Redux. Good knowledge of common React libraries (Redux, react router etc) and experience handling of common React patterns (HOC, render props, provider pattern, Container / Presentational components etc). Knowledge of common React principles (immutability, pure functions, functional / class components, pure components, change detection etc) and JavaScript (ES5 spec and up). e.g., is primitives vs objects, scopes in js, understanding of closures, function binding etc.

If you are a Back End - Python Data Engineer, you should be an expert in python development experience in an enterprise environment. Possess Python library knowledge including packages such as pandas, numpy and numba. Experience with both SQL and NoSQL database platforms and a sound understanding of data structures and common data transformation methodologies
  • Proven track record of designing and delivering key systems
  • A drive to deliver with an ability to own a piece of work from start to finish
  • Able to deal credibly with business and technical users at all levels of the organisation
  • Experience with structuring and writing unit tests
