At Bank of Singapore, we aim to provide clients with institutional access and global opportunities in alternative investments across venture capital, private equity, private credit, hedge funds, real assets and direct investments. We are seeking a Director in the Private Markets & Alternatives ("PM&A") team to source, conduct due-diligence, structure, obtain committee approvals, educate, market and provide advice to clients and provide on-going monitoring of hedge funds and liquid alternatives. As a member of the Private Markets & Alternatives team, the candidate will work closely with relationship managers to meet clients' investment objectives as well as collaborate with other departments of the Bank.
MAIN DUTIES
  • The PM&A team is responsible for hedge fund manager identification and due diligence, as well as tactical idea generation, portfolio construction, and implementation of hedge fund strategies
  • Active involvement in third party fund sourcing, selection and due diligence functions (both initial and ongoing). Take primary research responsibility, in terms of ongoing manager monitoring, of selected managers
  • Maintain a pipeline of hedge funds and liquid alternatives that are suitable for direct distribution and/or portfolio mandates
  • Interact with both existing and prospective third-party fund providers, to identify specialist, bespoke or exclusive solutions, and partnership opportunities
  • Present due diligence findings and recommendations to the Due Diligence Investment Committee via a comprehensive written and verbal report
  • Help build successful portfolios for our clients as well as analyse hedge funds in the context of changing macroeconomic environment, as a basis for dynamically highlighting the most suitable investment products for use in client portfolios
  • Lead the education and training of internal parties, relationship managers and clients across hedge fund strategies and portfolio construction, and build fluent knowledge of hedge funds on the platform


Qualifications
  • 8 to 10 years' relevant industry experience preferred, focused on manager research and selection
  • Collaborative and cooperative approach to tasks
  • Project management skills and ability to deliver on projects are important, as a basis for supporting BOS's development plans in expanding its third-party research capabilities and hedge fund platform offerings
  • Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • High attention to detail and drive for perfection
  • Presence, maturity and credibility to effectively represent PM&A internally and externally
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel and ability to develop familiarity and skill using PowerBI
  • Candidate must have a passion for investing, and willingness to research and discuss constructively investment ideas to discretionary and advisory portfolio managers, relationship managers and clients
  • Experience working within a private client or asset management business a plus
  • Education to degree level in financial discipline
  • Preference for candidates with hedge fund manager research experience across strategy types
  • CFA/CAIA holder will be an advantage
