Client is an established bank with global presence and this role sits within their Group corporate development team.
Description
Key Responsibilities include covering transactions like:
o Acquisitions and disposals of companies or banks, businesses, product or customer capabilities and portfolios to strengthen the core franchise of the bank. o Strategic investments, alliances, and joint ventures.
o NPL sales and structured entities to optimise value of charged off assets.
o Organic new market entry strategy by way of a representative office, branch, or subsidiary.
o Special projects such as subsidiarization and equity raisings.
* Executing transactions including (a) evaluation and preliminary assessment; (b) process/project management; (c) negotiation, signing and internal approval.
Strategy
Evaluate the performance of the Group (and that of each of its portfolio of businesses) against its strategic ambitions, its own financial framework and market expectations. Consider and proactively discuss the optimum allocation of resources around the Group and any choices it may have to re-allocate capital and improve performance:
* Consider the capital resources available to the group.
* Anticipate the challenges the Group will face and present solutions to mitigate those challenges.
* Review transaction opportunities aligned with the strategic agenda of the Group
Profile
* At least 3 years of experience in Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A), Investment Banking, Private Equity / Venture Capital
* Understanding of banking sector and broader financial services corporate finance principles (M&A, investments, venture capital, strategic alliances, joint ventures, etc.)
* Knowledge of legal and accounting and regulatory (i.e., capital / Basel 3) principles relating to M&A.
* Academic qualifications required: Bachelor's degree
* Proven transaction skill set and experience of doing deals with a successful track record of closing transactions.
*High numeracy with experience of designing and interpreting complex financial models and valuation analyses.
* Strong judgement and intellect combined with analytical and decision-making skills.
* Ability to motivate and develop junior team-members.
* Excellent communication (oral, written and presentation) and interpersonal skills.
* Conscientiousness with high attention to detail.
* Positive contributor to team in terms of ideas and knowledge.
* Ability to deliver time-critical projects and work in diverse project teams.
