As the company's second line of defense, Corporate Risk - or Independent Risk Management - provides independent oversight of risk-taking activities. Independent Risk Management establishes and maintains Wells Fargo's risk management program and provides oversight, including challenges to and independent assessment of, the frontline's execution of its risk management responsibilities. We manage risk according to the Risk Management Framework and ensure all employees understand their individual accountability for managing risk. Corporate Risk roles depend on a variety of skills, including Data analysis and synthesis, root cause analysis, change management, process management & execution, risk governance, risk strategy, risk identification & assessment, risk prevention, controls & mitigation, risk monitoring, reporting & escalation, risk systems & technology.

The APAC Independent Risk Management (IRM) Strategy Planning & Governance (SPG) group is responsible for supporting Wells Fargo's APAC Regional Chief Risk Officer (RCRO) in managing Strategy and Transformation, Business Planning and Operations, and Governance and Controls. This role reports to Head of Risk SPG in APAC RCRO office.

About this role

As part of the strategic growth and enhancing capabilities of the APAC risk organization, the APAC Regional Chief Risk Officer (RCRO)'s office is looking for highly skilled and experienced Risk analytics professional to drive delivery of risk reporting and data governance for the 2nd line risk organization. The Risk reporting and data governance lead is responsible to lead engagement with the front line and Corporate Risk resources to influence and challenge risk management activities and decisions as well as ensure alignment to the Risk Management Framework, particularly in the areas of risk reporting and data. This role is an individual contributor role, however, can be supported by the risk SPG team within the APAC RCRO office.

The role requires a sense of urgency, passion for results and personal accountability for achievement.

In this role, you will:
  • Driving and coordinating risk reporting required for APAC RCRO office for committees, legal entities and executives by working closely with various risk teams to provide comprehensive and consolidated risk views
  • Leading the effort for excellence in reporting and data governance by driving automation, adoption of technology and industry's best practices
  • Collaborating with Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) Risk and the other regions internationally to align reporting and data
  • Developing and maintain data architecture and tools to monitor data quality and implement controls required
  • Providing a holistic perspective, technical oversight and support for the 2nd line of defense risk oversight activities
  • Conducting deep dives into specific areas of focus based on Risk and Regulatory priorities
Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years Risk Management experience across APAC from a similar role
  • Holistic Risk Management experience across multiple areas within corporate and investment banking
  • Deep and hands on understanding of risk analytics, data and appliable systems
  • Strong database skills, including working with advanced data sets, advanced database and statistical functions and methods.
  • Extensive use of sophisticated data analysis, including machine learning techniques to build benchmark models
  • Ability to articulate issues, risks, and proposed solutions to various levels of management
  • Ability to quickly establish credibility to build and maintain effective working relationships
  • Ability to take on a high level of responsibility, initiative, and accountability
  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment
  • Ability to identify risk factors and ensure enactment of appropriate controls
  • Ability to track and monitor project progress, identify project and process gaps, recommend controls and communicate progress to business leaders
  • Ability to translate and present complex data in a manner that educates, enhances understanding, and influence decisions
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
