The Position

The Servers and Storage Team is looking for an experienced and skilled Senior Systems Engineer to design, manage and support virtual server infrastructure and storage platforms. In a truly global team, this role will be responsible for technical Servers and Storage outcomes for the fastest growing region - APAC, while collaborating and participating in global large-scale projects. This position is responsible for designing our end-to-end computing, virtualization and storage environment. In this position, successful candidate will be able to apply solve interesting problems, operate cross-functionally and learn cutting edge technologies and approaches.

Key responsibilities
  • Deliver technical projects and operations for the APAC region, in the realm IT infrastructure.
  • Design, manage and support virtual and physical servers and storage services.
  • Proactively addressing IT infrastructure problems, while constantly improving user satisfaction.
  • Build new enhancements and technologies related to Virtualization, Servers and Storage.
  • Create and maintain time-saving automation jobs for our support teams that perform repetitive tasks.
  • Creating and maintaining a high-availability environment for our resources.
  • Continuous optimization of virtual platforms, ensuring top performance of available resources. Seek opportunities for service improvement and ticket reduction.
  • Ensure all issues are logged appropriately and escalated as necessary using the Incident and Problem management process. Escalate issues to the wider support teams, vendors and team leads, as necessary.
  • Provide training and guidance on best practices to cross-functional peers.
Non-technical Qualifications
  • MSc or BS degree or equivalent 5-10 years of work experience in IT infrastructure space.
  • Strong analytical, high attention to detail, decision-making, and investigative skills.
  • Ability to self-motivate, often operating independently from co-workers.
  • Ability to work with global teams effectively, with minimum daily supervision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong intellectual curiosity, aptitude to provide innovative solutions to problems.
  • Attentive to detail and self-disciplined.
  • Ability to work in flexible environment, while dealing well with ambiguity.
  • Ability to create and manage work instructions, system and project documentation.
  • Willingness to coach and mentor less experienced peers.
Technical Qualifications
  • Strong VMware vSphere knowledge and experience including design, deployment, and maintenance of datacenters and clusters from the ground up including vSphere 7, vCenter, esxi, vDS, and VSAN.
  • Strong Windows Server Administration experience including server templating, patching, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Good working knowledge of networking including TCP-IP, routing, subnets, DNS, and firewalls.
  • Good understanding of SAN and NAS storage.
  • Working knowledge of Linux operating systems.
  • Hands-On experience administering Active Directory.
  • Hands-On experience administering SMB file shares and permissions.
  • PowerShell, BASH or Python scripting experience a plus.
  • Exposure to cloud technology and services (AWS/Azure) is a plus.
  • Experience supporting critical production applications.
