Director, Business Development & Strategic Initiatives (Digital Assets)

You will be working to elevate the company's current FinTech offerings by introducing blockchain, crypto and/or Web 3 capabilities and business line opportunities.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop executable strategies to capture new market opportunities in an extremely dynamic and fast-moving industry
  • Conduct data-driven analysis of crypto/fintech industry, competitors, and ecosystem players
  • Develop an understanding of key value drivers and how they evolve as the industry moves forward
  • Build strong connections with industry players, start-ups, and investors to be at the forefront of new developments
  • Generating new revenue streams while delivering tailored crypto solutions for a wide variety of Opal's partners including banks, FinTechs, merchants, crypto wallets/exchanges, and infrastructure providers
  • Negotiating and executing comprehensive agreements with crypto companies and infrastructure partners
  • Serving as a subject matter expert internally and externally, leading training for internal teams, and articulating Opal's position on crypto to our clients and partners
  • Translating emerging trends in crypto into opportunities for Opal and our clients
  • Influencing and providing market feedback and knowledge sharing to cross-functional teams and executive leadership
  • Scale emerging crypto product lines from initial proof of concept through go-to-market execution that spans pricing, strategy, deal structuring, and client support
  • Identifying new crypto infrastructure partnerships, and investment or acquisition opportunities
  • This position will have the potential to become CEO of Opal Payment down the road based on performance of the current role

Experience & Qualifications
  • Minimum 12 years of combined experience in business development, commercialisation, partnership, operational or any business-related roles across companies in FinTech, payments, crypto trading and other financial services
  • Demonstrated track record of building and managing businesses and partnerships including expertise in setting go-to-market strategies and execution, pricing, managing budgets, generating and scaling revenue, and supporting clients
  • Track record and expertise in structuring complex partnerships and legal agreements
  • Ability to successfully build strong partnerships with cross-functional teams in a matrixed organization
  • Possess significant functional knowledge of the digital assets ecosystem and players involved, including in-depth knowledge around permissionless blockchain technology as well as a deep understanding of existing retail payment solutions
  • Experience working with FinTechs and crypto wallets and exchanges, including specific experience partnering with crypto infrastructure providers
  • Strong problem-solving skills and creativity to identify new opportunities/anticipate how crypto can impact neo-banking and payments ecosystem
  • Expertise in explaining complex concepts and technologies to a broad audience of external and internal partners
  • Advanced communication skills with the ability to influence across all levels of an organization
  • Previous experience in an operating role at a start-up or high growth company
  • MBA or advanced degree relevant to finance, economics, business or any related discipline
