The base

The team
The Schroders APAC Tax team consists of two full time employees and is responsible for tax advisory, tax governance and tax risk management for Schroders' group entities, funds and employees in APAC. The team is supported by the Group Tax team in London and various advisors in the region.
What you'll do
You may require travelling to other offices in the region and/or the UK. The level of travel is not expected to be more than 2-3 trips per year and could be less.

The team
The Schroders APAC Tax team consists of two full time employees and is responsible for tax advisory, tax governance and tax risk management for Schroders' group entities, funds and employees in APAC. The team is supported by the Group Tax team in London and various advisors in the region.
What you'll do
- Responsibility for management and oversight of corporation tax compliance for group entities in Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Indonesia, Korea, Japan, Malaysia and Australia and additional jurisdictions as may be required by the business
- Oversight and review of taxation issues for regional funds
- Review and management of APAC regional tax reporting and disclosures.
- Identification and management of treaty inefficiencies and claims (e.g. Taiwan, Indonesia etc.)
- Monitoring of group and product tax risks including corporate income taxes, indirect taxes, employment taxes, transaction taxes, withholding taxes, transfer pricing and country by country reporting.
- Assist and manage research across a range of tax issues
- Provision of tax advice to regional business units
- Primary responsibility for production of tax accounts and notes for financial reporting purposes
- Assist and provide input to the creation / refinement of new procedures / practices / processes
- Managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders

The knowledge, experience, and qualifications you'll need
- Degree graduate with a minimum of 4 years' experience in tax for a large accountancy practice or MNC
- Experience in providing tax advisory services to stakeholders, corporate tax compliance and reporting
- A professional qualification such as ITP, CTA or ACA
- Experience in planning your own workload typically against a backdrop of changing priorities and / or external events
- Experience in taking key decisions that will likely have a financial and/or operational impact on Schroders. Judgements will be complex, detailed and typically subject to constraints. Precedents and procedures will act as a guide to decisions
The knowledge, experience and qualifications that will be good to have
- Prior experience working with investment managers / funds
- Skills in analytics and analytical technologies (such as Power BI, Excel, Python etc.)
