The Role: Communications Director, APAC

The Team: The S&P Global Public Relations and Reputation team leads on raising awareness of, building and protecting the global brand and reputation of S&P Global, externally through media and stakeholder engagement and internally through communications for our people. With team members in all our regional markets globally, we are a high-performing, proactive, creative, enthusiastic, results-driven team with exceptional internal and external relationships. There is a great degree of autonomy and opportunity to lead in the APAC region, underpinned by a strong support system.

The Impact: The global Communications team is essential to elevating, reinforcing, and protecting the S&P Global brand and reputation. Our work has meaningful impact in creating awareness, increasing our profile and supporting the commercial growth of the business. The team has representation on the local and global leadership teams and engages regularly with executives and partners spanning each of S&P Global's divisions. This role will collaborate closely with marketing, People, brand, corporate responsibility and other enterprise-wide functions to help S&P Global craft a strong, competitive voice.

The Work: The Communications Director, APAC will create, execute, and manage enterprise communication strategy for S&P Global in the Asia Pacific region. They will be responsible for developing, executing, and leading internal and external communications for one of the fastest growing regions in the company. This person will work across divisions and primarily be responsible for enterprise media relations, managing local agencies, and leading internal communications activities for local and visiting leaders. This will be equally a strategist and tactician, comfortable developing communications strategy and rolling up sleeves to implement communications programs.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and execute external communications programs, working proactively with senior business leaders and stakeholders throughout APAC and globally
  • Support issues and crisis communications activity through media engagement and stakeholder management
  • Provide strategic communications counsel to leaders in APAC and leadership to communications colleagues in the region
  • Build and maintain exceptional journalist relationships with reporters who cover our business divisions and enterprise story
  • Identify market trends and developments that could positively or negatively impact the business
  • Develop and execute impactful external communications campaigns
  • Leverage your resourcefulness, creativity, and flexibility to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
  • Message development in collaboration with key groups including commercial, research and legal
  • Keep a clear pulse on strategic issues to help inform communications campaigns and media relations
  • Where needed, work closely with specific business divisions on media relations with a keen focus on trade and business media
  • Work with local research analysts to identify story opportunities and manage interviews on relevant topics for our business
  • Support regional marketing initiatives with media efforts and align with global and local teams to manage media relations activity as required
  • Amplify thought leadership to support business growth priorities
What We're Looking For:
  • 10+ years in an external communications function within a financial services organization or related corporate field, either in-house or for an agency
  • First class communication skills - written, verbal and presenting
  • Fluency in English; fluency in local languages preferred
  • Strong track record of successfully creating and implementing internal and external communications strategies
  • Strong understanding of regional politics and regulatory environment throughout APAC
  • Significant experience in media relations and strong relationships with local media outlets
  • Strong executive presence and highly collaborative
  • Keen interest in, and good understanding of, business and financial markets including the associated instruments
  • Understand how to leverage data and insights to inform strategic communications
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification, an MBA is beneficial
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively
  • Highly organized with superb attention to detail
  • Curiosity and ability to learn quickly
