The Role: Sales Specialist - Upstream Energy Transition

Grade /Level ( relevant for internal applicants only ): Grade 11 Level 7

The Location: APAC

The Team: The Sales Specialist - Upstream Energy Transitions is responsible for the customer experience and revenue growth of Upstream Energy Transitions clients and prospects. The role sits with the Global Sales Specialist Team and reports to the APAC Director of Sales Specialists. This role requires close co-ordination with the Sales Teams, Marketing team, Client Services, Content team and Product team.

The Impact: Energy Transitions is an emerging space with a significant strategic importance to S&P Commodity Insights. Success in this role will help achieve our goal of delivering essential intelligence to satisfy the needs of our Customer as they address Upstream Energy Transition opportunity.

Responsibilities:
  • This position will be primarily responsible for achieving net-sales and customer experience targets for Upstream Energy Transitions clients in the APAC .
  • Identify and cultivate a diverse pipeline of opportunities for Energy Transition across Upstream Solutions across all segments of clients in the APAC .
  • Support relationships with clients at all levels to ensure they utilize our content and obtain the maximum value from their service.
  • Collect client feedback to be shared with the Upstream Product Management teams. Ensure product development is in-line with client strategy.
  • Responsibilities also include direct client engagements and leading efforts at Commodity Insights Hosted events.

Understand key customers, coordinate with Commodity Insights Commercial, Product & Marketing teams
  • Understand the relationship and the information requirements within a complex customer base. Understand the structure and strategy of the Commodity Insights sales organization, sales channels and sales objectives.
  • Participate in planning and executing account management schedule and detailed action plan. Understand key deliverables. Meet and exceed the assigned net sales goal as well as other customer metrics.
  • Use the insights gained from the market to inform the Product Development and Marketing team activities & strategies, to ensure that Upstream Solutions is delivering optimal solutions for our clients.

Growth of Net Sales and New Business
  • Search for new clients and perform white space analysis with existing clients.
  • This role will help develop strategies to improve the capability of the broader commercial organization.
  • Work alongside Commercial Managers to maximise the contract value for Upstream.

Market engagement, Customer Visits, Channel Partner Support, Conferences & Forums
  • Develop and strengthen relationships with our Customers and Channel Partners
  • Travel to client sites for sales and relationship building. Attend marketing & channel conferences, events, roundtables, workshops and forums to promote Upstream Energy Transitions offering.
  • Support (but not lead) joint initiatives across S&P Global in the Energy Transitions and ESG space.


What We're Looking For:
  • Must hold Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of B2B sales with a track-record of achieving revenue targets, developing new markets and maintaining a high-level of customer satisfaction.
  • Passion for energy, commodities and energy transitions
  • Solution-selling background
  • Driven by commercial growth
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and CRM Systems like Salesforce
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. Demonstrated strong relationship building with customers, markets and internal stakeholders. Strong verbal and written skills are required to enable effective communications at all levels within the company and with customers.
  • Great Team Player
  • Ability to travel 20-50%+ within the territory
