Responsibilities:
Manage, support, and maintain overall ownership of the entire business applications portfolio and related services
Deliver complex and innovative technology initiatives, and balance resource allocation constraints
Define an IT application strategy to deliver ever-increasing value to the business
Provide technical guidance and career mentoring to the engineering community
Hold overall responsibility for effort estimation, delivery, budget, and quality
Defining a technical vision and strategy for development methodologies introducing new ways of working.
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with various stakeholders locally, regionally as well as globally, and maintain regular communication to ensure transparency.
Manage and inspire the team, mentor existing and hire new staff, ensure a high level of employee engagement and effectiveness, plan and organize resources to successfully deliver on the IT application strategy
Undertake additional tasks and responsibilities as may be reasonably expected of the role and as necessary in order to achieve the objectives of the technology and corporate goals.
Establish clear organizational structures and succession plans aligned with
responsibilities, accountabilities and personal development for all Development staff in line with any anticipated growth.
Coach and support more junior team members and other stakeholders as needed.

Individual Accountabilities:
Overall effectiveness and continuous improvement of Software Engineering Excellence
Define and Execute New Ways of working and culture of excellence for all engineering squads.
Effective support of country and regional office for all software engineering related items.

Key Shared Accountabilities:
Overall System Development for internal as well as external facing applications
Monitor reliability and performance of all internal systems
Ensure compliance with security regulations
Prepare and manage the engineering & delivery department's budget
Coordinate with external stakeholders for new integrations and tools
Review and update policies relevant to internal systems and equipment
Ensuring that technology standards and best practices are maintained across the organization.

Experiences and Qualifications:
Minimum 12 years of solid IT experience with minimum 8 years of management experience of not less than 10 staff, previous experience as an IT manager in the insurance industry is a must
Extensive knowledge on cloud native applications, and building micro service architecture
Good experience in developing/enhancing and maintaining Policy Admin System(s)
Proven track record of working and partnering with regional and global business units.
Appreciation of latest technologies, trends, and methodologies to improve business results
Solid experience with a variety of fundamental IT concepts: SDLC, relational databases, IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, and exposure to modern technology tool stack etc.
Professional certification or designation in software engineering

Deep understanding of IT risks and how they can impact the business.
Self-driven, able to meet objectives with a minimal amount of managerial oversight.
Can distil complex issues into simple reports, solutions, and designs.
Proficient in English, both verbal and written, proficiency in other Asian language would be a plus.
Excellent communication, leadership, and people development skills with a strong sense of accountability
