The Chief of Staff reports to the South Asia and ASEAN (SAA) Cluster Head and supports them across their full range of activities, including leadership of the franchise, driving Citi's commercial agenda, engagement with CCOs and the broader team, deepening our relationships with key stakeholders including clients and regulators, executing on specific strategic initiatives, representing Citi to the market and media, and ensuring Cluster governance is robust and well run. The Chief of Staff will work in close partnership with all the business and function heads to drive the most important priorities across the region.

The role is based in Singapore and is a key partner to the Singapore and South Asia and ASEAN senior management teams.

Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate will demonstrate proven ability to work together with multiple stakeholders across the franchise, including the CCOs, the Regional Business and Function Heads, and key members of Citi's broader management team. The role requires strong analytical, interpersonal and leadership skills combined with the ability to influence others and build effective partnerships.

Key responsibilities in the role include:

  • Effective management of meetings, events, agendas and tracking of actions and follow ups
  • Partnering with the Singapore & SAA Management Teams Executive to deliver financial objectives, prioritize and drive execution of key initiatives and ensure common purpose across the businesses and functions
  • Providing support and strong coordination for the key thematic areas reporting directly to the Cluster Head (e.g. Innovation, ESG, Diversity & Inclusion, Employee Experience)
  • Working with businesses to develop Strategy for SAA to take advantage of supply chain reconfigurations, and attract FDI into SAA from China, US & Europe
  • Working with senior leadership on risk reduction actions in the face of challenging geopolitics
  • Partnering closely with other teams on Regulatory Remediation programmes
  • Proven program management capabilities, and ability to lead complex projects with multiple stakeholders to completion, working effectively in matrix organization
  • Working with HR to drive a pan SAA mobility program based on short-term assignments
  • Preparing the SAA Cluster Head for speaking engagements, board meetings, US ASEAN Business Council engagements etc.
  • Leading planning and performance monitoring to ensure regulatory priorities are clear, coordinated and delivered
  • Partnering closely with the CCO and HR in the identification and selection of senior leadership positions across the franchise
  • Building credible and trusting relationships with network partners
  • Promoting business ties with internal and external senior leaders/clients across key businesses, regions and support functions


Experience, Skills and Capabilities:

  • Thorough understanding of Citi's business in the Cluster / Region
  • Managerial experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Credibility to lead, manage, motivate, and influence a diverse population across geographies, products and matrix reporting lines
  • Understanding of the Risk and Controls environment
  • Problem solving skills; pragmatic approach to ensure limited resources are directed appropriately
  • Bachelor's degree required, MBA a plus
  • Discretion and sound judgment
  • Organized, ability to multitask and apply good judgement
