The position within Citi's ICM Underwriting team works with Global Spread Products' ABS and Residential mortgage business team in the underwriting, portfolio management and administration of a multi-billion-dollar warehousing loan portfolio secured by consumer receivables and / or SME business loans. The Underwriter supports senior underwriters in reviewing deal terms, structures, data, model, documentation related to such financing; Overall responsibilities are to:
  • Work proactively with Origination, Risk, and other internal constituents to ensure timely execution and internal reporting of new deals, syndication, amendment.
  • Assist in preparing initial drafts of credit memos for review by senior Underwriters and their submission for approval by Risk via internal processes and system workflows. Create written and oral work products to test the financial feasibility and credit worthiness of loan forwards, permanent loans, and permanent loan conversions.
  • Assist in conducting due diligence and preparing internal committee packages for approval, as well as, credit submissions required for the sale of the loans to Bond Investors and for Rating Agencies.
  • Generate internal deal ratings, maintain applicable scorecards, monitor limits, oversee data accuracy to ensure compliance with internal data generation / management guidelines.
  • Liaise closely with Private Credit team to accurately maintain comprehensive lists of collateral approvals, pricing adjustments, and advance rate changes.
  • Provide the Origination team with requested historical asset performance data and other ad hoc requests, maintain various internal databases.
  • Validate Borrowing Base model for each new deal and subsequent changes.
  • Review monthly servicer reports for accuracy, collateral eligibility, covenant compliance, and data integrity against reports from third party reports such as collateral agents; keep abreast of asset- and borrower-specific events.
  • Act as maker/checker for various internal database, oversee the accuracy/completeness of pertinent data, ensure changes to the facilities are reflected uniformly across internal systems.
  • Play an integral role in the approval process for transaction restructuring, amendment, consent and waiver request; serve as delegated contact person with other internal and external constituents such as participating banks, attorneys and external auditors.
  • Coordinate with the audit manager and senior underwriters on audit related matters (e.g., scope revisions, timely review); support senior Underwriters to follow up, negotiate and implement remedial actions with servicers for any major exceptions noted in the audits.
  • Maintain organized credit files for credit, regulatory, and compliance purposes.
Qualification and Experience :

The candidate should have:
  • Preferably 2-5 years of credit or operational experience in structured finance/securitization within a financial institution, rating agency, financial guarantor, or asset management firm.
  • Proficiency in Excel & Power Point. Strong attention to detail - the role will have support transaction due diligence and documentation of transactions to ensure that all risks and business points are accurately covered and in compliance with internal criteria
  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication enabling one to effectively interact with internal and external constituents of all levels. Strong sense of ownership, diligence, ability to multi-task and work under time pressure to manage client or internal deadlines, eagerness to learn and advance.
  • The ability to work independently within a team environment to meet deadlines and the initiative to inquire/escalate with other members of the Underwriting or Financing team to mitigate credit and operational risks
