The Team
The Sustainability Group leads our overarching strategy and initiatives on sustainability, spanning across all our charter roles as an active investor and shareholder, a forward-looking institution, and a trusted steward. As part of our wide-ranging remit, we partner extensively internally and externally to catalyse and deliver the necessary step changes required to invest for long-term positive impact, transition to a climate positive world, build a sustainable organisation and to collaborate for global progress.
The Sustainability & Climate Change Strategy team within the Sustainability Group focuses on understanding and keeping abreast with the broader sustainability policy context, evolving regulatory and market expectations as well resulting implications for investing. For this purpose, but also to position Temasek as an investor at the forefront of integrating sustainability at the core of its business and operations, the team engages on global initiatives at the intersection of sustainability and finance / investing domestically and internationally.
The team works to align Temasek's ways of working with international best practices, including in the area of disclosures and to continuously progress our ambition to understand the total impact of our investments. Acting as a catalyst for change, the team drives internal and external engagement platforms to advance learning and collaboration among senior executives, staff and portfolio companies.
Role and Responsibilities
Building from a solid base, the VP Sustainability & Climate Change Strategy will be evolving and leading key programs and initiatives to continuously advance Temasek's performance and global recognition as a leader in sustainability.
Working in collaboration with other teams within the firm (such as Organisation & People (O&P), Admin, Procurement, Finance, Investment Services etc.) the role's portfolio will include Temasek's corporate sustainability initiatives, diversity and inclusion and other emerging areas of responsible business. The role also supports internal and external reporting on our sustainability strategy, our initiatives as well as research tasks to continuously deepen our understanding of best practices.
As a member of the broader Sustainability team, this position reports to the Director Sustainability & Climate Change Strategy and will be based at Temasek's head office in Singapore.

Specific responsibilities include:
- Sustainability Policy, Trends and Strategy
- Support the continuous evolution of the firm-wide sustainability strategy
- Keep abreast with and provide internal updates on trends, developments and changing expectations on various priority issues in the area of sustainability and corporate responsibility
- Support engagements with external stakeholders, including organizations, initiatives, partners and events
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with internal partners / functions that contribute to our overall sustainability efforts to drive toward coalitions, consensus and action
- Corporate sustainability
- Partner with the relevant internal teams to build a comprehensive strategy and operational plan to drive and grow our corporate sustainability efforts across our offices
- Lead the implementation of priority projects and partner relevant internal teams in the review of our existing policies and practices
- Deliver our sustainability focused staff engagement program (Project GO!) and lead the editorial team curating our monthly internal sustainability-focused newsletter
- Catalyse the development of new initiatives, based on deep knowledge and understanding of corporate best practices
- Internal and external reporting
- In collaboration with other teams, drive our annual disclosures relating to our corporate sustainability efforts
- Identify opportunities to expand disclosures in areas relevant to our stakeholders and manage measurement activities
- Serve as resource to internal partners on sustainability reporting as well as broader communications needs and opportunities
- Degree in Business Management, Accounting, Sustainability or related areas preferred
- A minimum of twelve years of experience in strategic sustainability management, preferably in financial services/investment management/consulting
- Understanding of the evolving sustainability-related expectations among various stakeholders (e.g. governments, employees non-governmental organizations, etc.)
- Understanding of leading corporate responsibility standards and frameworks and experience in developing strategic roadmaps and action plans
- Deep knowledge and familiarity with climate change and other critical sustainability themes; Expertise in social issues (e.g., human rights, diversity and inclusion etc.) is a plus
- Experience in leading cross-functional project teams and work with teams across geographies and global time zones
- Exceptional project management skills and the ability to structure and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously and drive to completion; with experience in managing budgets, vendors and agency resources
- Ability to produce high quality outputs in a timely manner leveraging on strong business acumen and strategic thinking
- Outstanding communicator with excellent presentation and strong written and oral communication skills; ability to represent the firm in stakeholder meetings and external working groups
- Self-starter with the ability to work within a complex, fast paced and often ambiguous environment, to drive rigorous, fact-based recommendations to senior management, other executive, functional, or geographic management
- Strong work ethic, ability to demonstrate initiative, ownership, and manage multiple priorities
