Position : Associate/Senior Associate - Investment

Overview
The Strategic Development (SD) team invests in global disruptive deep-tech ventures and business platforms. The SD team leverages its deep understanding of science and technology, global reach, technology investment acumen, extended time horizon, collaborative DNA and new business development capabilities to seek, curate and build innovative and potential disruptive technology investment opportunities.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Perform market research and financial / investment analysis / modelling of potential SD projects as a critical capability for SD's pipeline origination and assessment skillset (which includes start-ups, deep tech funds, Intellectual Property Commercialisation Vehicles and co-investments with MNCs / portfolio companies)
  • Undertake industry research, financial analysis and due diligence on target funds and companies
  • Involved in financial analysis and modelling as part of investment-related activities
  • Maintain a continual awareness of emerging technology trends and factors across SD's focus areas that influence the value of Temasek's assets and could provide opportunities for growth
  • Regular monitoring of portfolio funds and companies, identifying areas of engagement with fund managers / board / management and recommending / executing divestments
  • Manage functional processes for pipeline management, portfolio oversight, performance reporting and reviews
  • Support SD management and oversight of the overall SD Capital Allocation & Portfolio; including tracking the capital deployment, portfolio allocation and returns
Qualifications/Capabilities
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably with exposure to both finance, accounting, and/or economics as well as a background in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics related field
  • 2 to 4 years working experience with global financial institutions, Tech MNCs, Private Equity and Tech VC/CVC with a strong focus on early stage and technology
  • Be familiar with key business concepts and be able to apply them appropriately
  • Be familiar with the use of appropriate electronic data sources (e.g. Bloomberg, Factiva, etc.) for business and industry information research and presentation
  • Good interpersonal skills and be able to work well as part of different teams and deal with multiple stakeholders
  • Possess excellent writing skills
  • Self-starter with a proven ability to manage multiple priorities and to work independent
