Role Responsibilities
  • The Advisory Solutions Team is looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and forward-thinking individual to join the team. The new team member will have responsibility for a range of advisory related activities, including - building out and significantly scaling the Flagship DPM mandate and CIO Signature funds proposition, helping to roll out and embed SC Wealth Select, Standard Chartered's new advisory framework across all markets; helping to build an advisory community to share best practice; and manage many of the day-to-day sales and marketing activities related to DPM.
  • Important requirements - the individual must have a keen interest and background/experience in financial markets, have a strong interest in data analytics with actual experience with data visualisation tools such as Power BI and Tableau (along with excel/VBA skills), excellent communications skills (oral and written), high attention to detail, have the ability to multi-task well, be willing to work with stakeholders across all levels of seniority, and have demonstrated creativity in past roles in executing campaigns to amplify propositions.
  • We have an ambitious goal to grow our Managed Investments (MI) business (including DPM) significantly. This role will support the growth of the MI business through DPM initiatives, advisory solutions initiatives, and the AMI (Advisory, Managed Investments) strategic agenda aligned to the Global WM Strategy for Standard Chartered Bank.
Strategy
  • DPM Flagship Mandates and Signature CIO.
  • Help to shape and define the DPM Flagship proposition by taking on responsibility for existing sales and marketing collateral (pitchbooks, fact sheets, etc.), as well as thinking beyond today, and looking for ways to elevate the brand, bringing it front and centre to RMs and client conversations.
  • Help the DPM Team to develop the strategic plan for scaling the DPM business significantly, including taking ownership for understanding the 'pulse' from RMs and clients on needs, new initiatives, as well as being responsible for sharing best practice with what other peer banks are offering in DPM.
Advisory
  • Help embed the investment advisory framework (SC Wealth Select) - purpose, principles and process, across all products, markets and client segments.
  • Develop new (and enhance existing) ways that we communicate our house views paired with advisory solutions to the frontline and clients - including Jumpstart events, SC Investment Roadmap pitchbooks, Wealth Huddles, Espresso meetings, Global Market outlook events etc.
Business
  • Discretionary Portfolio Management (DPM) Flagship mandates and Signature CIO Funds
  • Create and develop DPM University - an online training and education repository that guides RMs on how to pitch DPM, how to undertake a DPM review, answers Frequently Asked Questions, shares common client objections and how to address these, and which client personas are most aligned to the DPM proposition.
  • Play a key role in product development initiatives for DPM Flagship mandates and Signature CIO funds.
  • Be the first point of contact for DPM enquiries and establish a 'rules of engagement model' mapping out who takes responsibility for servicing which RMs and clients (using an AUM matrix approach).
  • Address regular and ad-hoc requests and product enquiries, plus proactively share information and seek feedback from the sales force to increase product awareness and relevance.
  • Produce, update and improve Marketing Materials for the DPM Flagship mandates and Signature CIO funds offering. Apply a creative lens to the existing material and constantly look for ways to elevate the brand.
  • Ensure comprehensive tracking and timely updates of online repositories of Marketing Materials and the BRIDGE (intranet).
  • Plan, and assist with organising and implementing marketing events to elevate the DPM proposition (with assistance from the Country MI and Distribution Teams).
  • Actively engage with relevant stakeholders (DPM team, Fund Select Team, MSAs, IAs, RMs) to drive awareness and sales through various marketing initiatives to increase product penetration, client satisfaction and revenue generation.
  • Drive and execute marketing projects.
  • Attend Fund Select briefings to stay abreast of each mutual fund held within the DPM Flagship mandate and Signature CIO funds and have the ability to explain and articulate knowledge of each underlying fund to RMs, IAs, and clients.
Investment Advisory
  • Champion end-to-end advisory framework (SC Wealth Select) including purpose, principles, and process, across all products and client segments to ensure consistency across regions and segments.
  • Curate and deliver frontline educational materials to promote investment ideas, themes in line with house views to ensure that our specialist and RMs are better equipped to engage our clients effectively.
  • The role requires the employee to be comfortable with communicating and presenting to varied set of audiences like customer facing teams, senior stakeholders, technology teams.
Data Analytics
  • Help to embed data-led sales through building data visualisation dashboards to track sales activity, DPM and MI penetration, as well as use data to drive insights and next best action for RMs.
  • Use excels and VBA skills to extract and clean data from existing data repositories for use in data dashboards and sales reporting.
  • Embed and champion data driven advice across our footprint through using data dashboards to generate weekly updates to management on sales activity.
  • Help define and establish wealth analytics as a key enabler of WM business growth, leveraging data and new analytics methods, leveraging data scientists from the Bank's analytics centre of excellence.
Risk Management
  • Identify gaps and weaknesses within the Flagship DPM end-to-end advisory process risk and control environment and monitor rectification as required.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory guidelines and business policies across product development / sales.
  • Ensure implementation of appropriate control systems and operational procedures to support DPM sales and the effective administration of customer accounts.
  • Ensure adequate and appropriate systems and controls are in compliance with Group and Business policies, procedures, standards and codes, including those governing all Risk types, Compliance, Technology and Operations, Finance and Reputation.
Governance
  • Maintain awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role.
  • Responsible for delivering 'effective governance'; capability to challenge fellow executives effectively; and willingness to work with any local regulators in an open and cooperative manner.

Our Ideal Candidate
  • Graduate finance professional with 4+ years of experience in financial markets (Private Banking, Asset Management) with experience in Mutual Funds or Discretionary Portfolio Management (DPM) favoured.
  • Sound understanding of Macroeconomic concepts, Asset Valuation principles (Equity, Debt & Structured Products) and Portfolio Management techniques.
  • Good knowledge of financial systems such as Bloomberg, Refinitive (Temenos suite - AAA+, etc. a plus).
  • Must have experience in data analytics with the ability to build data dashboards (through data visualisation tools such as Power BI or Tableau), as well as strong Microsoft excel / VBA skills (Python an advantage).
