The Role Responsibilities
  • The Director ESRM role is part of the Environmental and Social Risk Management (ESRM) team responsible for managing environmental (including climate) and social risk across the Bank with a focus on Consumer, Private & Business Banking (CPBB) products, clients and partnerships.
  • The role sits within our Sustainable Finance team which serves as a centre of excellence on a broad set of ESG topics, providing thought leadership, strategic advice and support for SCB's clients.
They will be responsible for the following
Leading on all E&S matters for CPBB products, clients and partnerships to ensure these are carried out in compliance with the Bank's referenced environmental and social standards. This will require but is not limited to:
  • Undertaking environmental and social due diligence.
  • Defining the Bank's requirements to clients, partners, external counsel and supporting business teams.
  • Negotiating on E&S matters including documentation and action plans.
  • Driving the development, promotion and implementation of the Group's Position Statements.
  • Promoting ESRM activities and the Bank's Position Statements internally and externally through a variety of means including panel discussions, blogs, articles etc.
  • Actively liaising with front-line and product teams across CPBB to educate on and manage existing and emerging E&S risks.
  • Liaising with CPBB Risk, Reputational and Sustainability Risk and Climate Risk.
Processes
  • Support the design, implementation and education of staff on policies and procedures in collaboration with Risk, Legal and relevant business teams.

  • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.

Our Ideal Candidate
  • 8+ years' experience in consumer banking.
  • 2+ years in E&S risk or reputational and sustainability risk.
  • In depth knowledge and experience across multiple sustainability initiatives and regulations.
  • Knowledge of environmental and socials risks across consumer and business banking products and services.
  • Demonstrable experience in building a high functioning, collaborative team.
