Job Description:
The position requires problem recognition, troubleshooting, prioritization of steps, resolution, and implementing recommended solutions to meet the defined SLI for middleware and databases. This includes environment build, capacity planning, installations, configurations, cluster setup, performance tuning and ongoing monitoring. Work also involves providing consulting to multiple development teams on analysis, design, development, and performance tuning - driving improvements in reliability and optimisation for middleware and databases

The candidate should be motivated to work in fast-paced, fast-growth environment where many changes take place routinely. The candidate will expect to work with a diverse team of system analysts, system engineers, and developers. The candidate must also strong believer of automating middleware and database operations aspects like provisioning, deployment, observability, incident lifecycle, uptime SLA, etc.

Responsibilities
  • Administer middleware and databases. Responsible for keeping middleware and database systems that support all user-facing services running smoothly 24/7/365.
  • Coordinate the allocation of system storage and plans future storage requirements for the middleware & databases.
  • Perform database performance monitoring and tuning, including advanced skills in the effective use of database tools.
  • Perform requirements gathering, business design, technical design, development, testing, implementation, writing queries, stored procedures, cursors, triggers, and scripting in open-source database technologies.
  • Lead on middleware and database reliability & performance aspect with the application teams.
  • Analyse solutions and implement best practices for supported middleware and databases.
  • Provide middleware and databases expertise through the migrations, queries and performance
  • Investigate on problems / incident and work on resolutions as needful for middleware and databases
  • Lead the middleware and Perform database performance monitoring and tuning, including advanced skills in the effective use of database tools.
  • Performs requirements gathering, business design, technical design, development, testing, implementation, writing queries, stored procedures, cursors, triggers and scripting fir middleware and database technologies
  • Identifying on improvement opportunities and assess business requirements against alignment to current architecture
  • Driving productivity, recommending improvements, remediation and operational excellence to identify opportunities for improvement


Qualifications
Requirements
  • General Bachelor's degree in related Information Technology disciplines
  • At least 10 years' experience on middleware & database administration, including installation, configuration, backup/recovery, database tuning and support of application design and development
    • Experience with database (i.e. Oracle, MSSQL, Postgres, MySQL, MongoDB) modelling, information engineering, and multi-tier design
    • Experience with middleware (i.e. WebSphere, WebLogic, IIS, JBoss, File Transfer Protocols, API Gateway, TIBCO SOA), multi-tier design and development, and open systems
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with High Availability and Disaster Recovery techniques and concepts
  • Experience with performance analysis (IO, CPU, etc) and optimisation (indexes, partitions, schema redesign, etc)
  • Experience with geo-redundant middleware & database architectures (always-on, active/active, master/master, etc) will be an added advantage
  • Curious person with strong problem solving & analytical skills
  • Essential to have a can-do attitude to work under multi-tasking environment
  • Self-motivated and possess drive, and ability to work independently and a good team player
  • Results-oriented person with a focus on delivery
  • Experience in performing root cause analysis of production problems and provide quick service recovery if required
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Good communication (written and verbal) and inter-personal skills to manage technical and non-technical stakeholders across multiple business units
