Role Responsibilities
Strategy

  • The Scrum of Scrum role is across FCSO Technology covering various domains such as Transaction Monitoring, Screening and Case Management.
  • The Scrum Master represents the FCSO Technology organization, harmonizes technology ('tech') objectives and key results (OKRs), manages inter-domain technical and business dependencies, and serves as SPOC for Hive Lead, Tribe Lead, POs and other stakeholders.
  • The Scrum master is responsible for tech resource allocation in cooperation with the PO, prioritizing tech backlog and dedicates 100% of their capacity to the tribe goals and outcomes.
  • Participate in prioritization forum and create dependency maps across tribes.
  • Work with Tribe Architect to understand the key properties and changes to technology infrastructure and determine the best way to work with technology restrictions.
  • Help co-ordinate staffing of people from technology to Squad, based on the QPR and ad-hoc requests.
  • Accept significant deliverables based on the goals and key objectives agreed up front, and based on continuous discussion with POs.
Business
  • Support new initiatives and innovations to bring cutting edge technology tools and methods in the FCSO Technology function.
  • Look at feasibility and technical constraints, ensuing the book-of-work will support the intended product and enable the overall FCSO Technology's goals.
  • Work closely with PO to deliver against the agreed roadmap.
  • Use experience of lean, product & customer centric businesses to optimise process within the team.
  • Work with the PO and SME's to assess product opportunities and recommend the best solution to the requirements.
  • Engage with enterprise and information and software architects to confirm solutions are consistent with the long-term architecture, roadmaps and information principles where necessary.
  • Deliver high rates of safe, successful, change on the domains.
Processes
  • Implement Agile methodology across tribes.
  • Develop tribe's competency by working with Agile Coach, Tribe, Hive and Chapter Leads.
  • Work with architects to implement architecture and integration standards with architects.
  • Ensure that other technology leaders are sufficiently involved, e.g. invited to regular Tribe Show & Tells.
People and Talent
  • Be servant leaders to the Tribes.
  • Keep constant alignment with the other Scrum masters to anticipate dependencies and help in providing context to manage priorities.
  • Understand if the team's capacity is the correct one for the needed roadmap execution and needed corrective actions with engineering managers to have the optimal resources.
  • Remove blockers and help identifying potential improvements and work with the Tribe's agile coach and the engineering managers.
  • Participate in the preparation of production outputs and their planning.
Risk Management
  • The ability to interpret the Group's financial information, identify key issues based on this information and put in place appropriate controls and measures.
  • Help Tribe lead to be risk control owner under the Group's Risk Management Framework (including relevant Operational Risk Framework).
Governance
  • Responsible for assessing the effectiveness of the Group's arrangements to deliver effective governance, oversight and controls in the business and, if necessary, oversee changes in these areas; Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework, in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role.
Regulatory & Business Conduct
  • Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group's Values and Code of Conduct.
  • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
  • Lead the FCSO Technology tribes to achieve the outcomes set out in the Bank's Conduct Principles. Fair Outcomes for Clients, Effective Financial Markets, Financial Crime Compliance, The Right Environment.
  • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.
Key Stakeholders
  • Financial Crimes Surveillance Operations (FCSO), FCSO Technology, Functions technology, CCIB business and technology teams, Retail business and technology teams, Audit team, Global Model Validation team, Compliance and Financial Crimes Controls (CFCC) team
Our Ideal Candidate
  • 10+ years of professional experience as project/program manager or Scrum Master at a large consulting/technology/financial services organizations
  • Ability to drive multiple scrums
  • Experience in leading projects in agile software development methodology
  • Proven experience of managing all aspects of the software projects/portfolio such as cost, schedule, scope, etc.
  • Proven experience of running cross-functional delivery scrums/programs leading to a definite delivery
  • Familiarity with Financial Crimes compliance domain will be desirable
  • Strong knowledge of Agile software development methodology
  • Degree (or similar) in Engineering and/or MBA is preferred.
  • PMP or scrum master certification is highly recommended.
Role Specific Technical Competencies
  • Familiarity with Big Data Engineering solutions and architecture.
  • Strong understanding and experience in working with Data technology and cutting edge tool.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies and frameworks.
  • Effective communicator at C-Level by developing consistent and compelling storylines.
  • Working knowledge in Legal and Compliance applications, Finance or Risk functions.
  • Fluency in verbal and written communication.
  • Exposure to Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence , Big Data Analytics, Business Intelligence tools.
  • Proficient at MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and MS Word.
