Our Asia Oceania Corporate Banking Department (AOCB) is responsible for the strengthening of Mizuho product-related businesses in Asia Pacific by giving advice and providing support to all Mizuho branches in the region.

Job Responsibilities
(Internal Corporate Title: Manager)

Your key roles & responsibilities include:

  • Originate business and support origination initiatives for businesses below, among others, with existing and prospective clients in whole APAC region (excl. Japan) in the designated sector/sub-sector by utilizing his/her own corporate finance, industry/sector knowledge and analysis, experiences etc. under the instruction of the management (including the below)
  • Corporate finance, acquisition finance (recourse, non-recourse), other structured products (incl. project finance) etc.
  • DCM, ECM and others by MHSA (Securities Asia)/MHSS (Securities Singapore) etc.
  • Ancillary businesses in event-driven deals such as FX, derivatives, trade financing and transaction banking etc.
  • Japan angle M&A advisory by MHSC (Securities Tokyo)/MHSS etc.
  • Under the instruction of the management, support and promote business discussions and idea generation with clients by analyzing clients' business and acquisition strategies, business structures, investment plans, financials, credit etc. Create comprehensive presentation materials/pitch books to market business opportunities to clients, including M&A opportunities, financing options, and other strategic ideas. In line with this objective, presentation materials will include, among others, industry trends, synergy analysis, company valuation, and financial product descriptions. As necessary, visit clients to promote cross-sell of Mizuho Financial Group products;
  • As a key sector coverage team member, actively participate in communications with CEO, CFO, M&A decision makers and other key client personnel;
  • Under the instruction of the management, closely liaise with country bankers, industry bankers and product bankers (incl. those of other entities) in Americas, EMEA, APAC (incl. Japan) to pitch the most appropriate products/solutions to the clients and actively participate in transaction execution;
  • Achieve a high level of autonomy and responsibility in deal/transaction execution, including acting as team leader on transactions, as appropriate. This includes coordinating with key client representatives, external legal counsel and advisors, internal stakeholders and other parties to the transactions;
  • Constantly expand knowledge of sector and financing markets through external and internal networking and research;
  • Generate and support the generation of synergy profit;
  • Collaborate with credit and relevant research team to proactively manage the bank's resources for maximising returns and minimizing risk;
  • Instruct, support and educate other team members and junior staffs etc., strengthen the deal origination function and contribute to the department and Mizuho Financial Group by collaborating well with other teams, departments and entities;
  • Perform other works as assigned by senior bankers/management; and
  • Pursue above tasks with sincere consideration and compliance with Mizuho's internal policy and guidelines etc
  • Deliverables (including the below):
  • Supporting the management
  • Generating deal ideas and preparing marketing pitches, proposals etc.
  • Joining the client meetings as necessary.
  • Collaborating with country bankers, other industry bankers and product bankers for deal origination and execution
  • Leading transactions, as appropriate
  • Developing and producing management reports
  • Generating fee incomes
  • Reinforcing the industry banker system in Mizuho APAC (excl. Japan)
  • To perform concurrent assignment in Mizuho Securities (Singapore) Pte. Lte. ("MHSS") after becoming a licensed representative


Job Requirements
What you should have:
  • At least 5-8 years of relevant corporate finance experience (principally across financial advisory, debt and equity financing), having obtained this preferably from accounting, consulting/advisory or financial institutions. Other relevant experiences in large corporate or multi-national companies will also be considered
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills, as well as an understanding of financial markets and products
  • Must be comfortable in a research and analytical role, but with the ability to engage customers for business development when needed
  • Travelling within Asia Pacific may be necessary
  • Candidate must be a strong team player, with an entrepreneurial spirit towards customer engagement
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance or related disciplines is a minimum requirement for applicants, while MBA or Post-Graduate qualifications in Finance or CFA accreditation would be highly desirable
  • Knowledge in one or several sectors among Power, Utilities, Infrastructure or Natural Resources is a plus
