The Settlements Senior Associate will be part of the Operational Stewards pillar under Investment Services (IS). Investment Services brings together all investment support activities under one function, spanning from deal advisory and data management to trade processing and investment accounting. It aims to serve as a trusted business partner to other departments within Temasek, providing the business with strategic insights and driving operational excellence across the end-to-end investment process.

The Settlements Senior Associate will be responsible for performing settlement activities for transactions across all asset classes. This job will involve close collaboration with internal Temasek teams as well as external counterparts (e.g., brokers, counterparties, custodians) to ensure the accurate and timely settlement of trades in accordance with control frameworks. The individual will also participate in process optimization initiatives, supporting efficiency gains in the settlement workflow.

Responsibilities:

Execute activities in the settlement process
  • Perform all settlement activities in an accurate and timely manner, including settlement netting, executing payments and resolving failed trades
  • Proactively investigate and resolve settlement discrepancies, and escalate issues where required
  • Ensure that all settlement activities are performed in accordance with regulatory requirements, identifying and flagging potential risks where required
Support settlement process optimization
  • Work closely with the Settlements Lead to continually improve settlement-related workflow, identifying and executing on opportunities to drive efficiency gains
  • Perform root cause analysis on ongoing issues or identified trends related to settlement activities, and proactively identify ways to resolve known problems
Drive ongoing improvements based on familiarity with settlement best practices and industry standards
    • Propose improvements to settlement activities and processes in a proactive manner, based on a deep knowledge and understanding of industry best practices and regulatory requirements
Requirements:
    • Bachelor's degree in Business, Banking and Finance preferred
    • Experience in trade operations or settlements-related role
    • Good understanding of SWIFT and SimCorp system will be an added advantage
    • Self-starter who takes the initiative to actively identify and resolve issues
    • Results-orientated attitude with an attention to detail and accuracy
    • Strong and effective communication skills, with ability to connect and work with multiple audiences (e.g. both internal and external stakeholders) and articulate points of view persuasively
    • Ability to multitask and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
