Job Summary

The Compliance and Control Analyst will be part of the Operational Stewards pillar under Investment Services (IS). Investment Services brings together all investment support activities under one function, spanning from deal advisory and data management to trade processing and investment accounting. It aims to serve as a trusted business partner to other departments within Temasek, providing the business with strategic insights and driving operational excellence across the end-to-end investment process.

The Compliance and Control Analyst will report to the Compliance & Controls Lead. The Analyst will be responsible for the reconciliation of Temasek's cash balances and security holdings, ensuring that all breaks are investigated and resolved in a timely manner. The Analyst will work closely with internal Temasek teams as well as external counterparts (e.g. banks, custodians) to manage the reconciliation process, ensuring that the firm's internal controls framework is being adhered to. The Analyst is also responsible for managing day-to-day compliance activities, including rule set-up and compliance monitoring. The Analyst will play a critical role in supporting the firm's risk and control frameworks, and will work closely with the Risk Management Unit (RMU) and Front Office teams to understand compliance requirements and implement

Key Responsibilities:

Execute all reconciliation activities
  • Perform daily reconciliation of cash balances, proactively identifying and investigating reconciliation breaks
  • Perform reconciliation of securities across all asset classes based on stipulated frequency, proactively identifying and investigating reconciliation breaks
  • Work closely with external parties (e.g., banks, custodians) and internal Temasek stakeholders to resolve reconciliation breaks in a timely manner
  • Escalate critical reconciliation breaks to supervisor where required, in accordance to risk and control frameworks
  • Compliance rule set-up and maintenance
  • Set up compliance rules in the system in accurate and timely manner, based on a deep understanding of compliance rule requirements
  • Work closely with the Public Markets to ensure compliance rules are set up and ready for orders execution.
Compliance checks
  • Monitor pre-trade compliance breaches, investigating root causes and liaising with relevant parties to resolve breaches
  • Perform post-trade compliance checks, investigating root causes and liaising with relevant parties to resolve breaches
  • Ensure timely and effective resolution of compliance breaches through escalation of identified issues to supervisors and / or senior stakeholders
Ongoing compliance monitoring
  • Perform ongoing compliance monitoring, ensuring that all breaches are identified and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Flag out potential risks where applicable, enabling early detection and management of operational risks
Contribute to operational excellence and process improvements
  • Assist in enhancing reconciliation processes by proactively evaluating current processes and identifying areas needing improvement
  • Work closely with the Compliance & Controls Lead to optimize compliance-related workflows, thereby driving efficiency gains and reducing risk potential
Requirements:
  • Degree holder with 3-7 years of relevant working experience in Reconciliation and/or Compliance
  • Good logical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Committed and willing to learn; a team player with initiative and ownership mindset
  • Good documentation and communication skills
  • Hands on, meticulous and with a keen eye for details
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 Office
  • Experience with Simcorp Dimension will be an advantage
  • Exposure to credit and market risk is an advantage
  • Strong knowledge in data literacy is an advantage
  • Good understanding of SWIFT messages is an advantage
  • Proficient in data visualisation and analytics tool such as Qlik Sense and Tableau will be an advantage
