Background

Part of Corporate Affairs, Brand & Marketing (CABM), Story Lab produces creative and compelling global content, working closely with Digital Channels to drive positive engagement with our audiences in order to strengthen our global brand, reputation and culture. With a focus on innovative, human-centred storytelling, Story Lab works closely with CABM's Data & Insights team to measure and optimise content performance against CABM and Group objectives.
Overview
The Associate Director, Thought Leadership Content, is a strong content-creation allrounder, responsible for supporting multi-channel delivery of insight reports and other thought leadership content, to support the Bank's business strategy and bring to life our narrative for clients, colleagues and external stakeholders.
The role holder is
  • Passionate about storytelling and full of creative and innovative ideas for impactful content, including insight reports.
  • Experienced at delivering thought leadership content for global companies, including insight reports and white papers, preferably in financial services.
  • An expert communicator with superior writing skills who can work seamlessly content formats, from long-form articles to social-media copy, video and infographics.
  • Fully appraised of best practice in corporate content and stays tuned to latest corporate campaign trends, in the financial sector and beyond.
  • Strong organisation skills, with experience of working on complex, timebound, multiple-stakeholder projects.
  • As part of the Story Lab team, the Associate Director, Insight Reports will help the Bank meet its business objectives, by telling our stories in ways that break new ground, differentiate us as a business, and improve our reputation.
Business
  • Support the Director, Insight Reports on the development of our flagship insight reports, including vendor and stakeholder management, production and activation.
  • Support the Head of Content & Planning, working with internal and external stakeholders and agencies to develop and deliver content, including articles, social posts, graphics, podcasts and videos.
  • Proofread, copy edit and revise content, meeting our bar of excellence.
  • Report on content performance against agreed objectives and key results.

  • Help to ensure continuous improvement in the team's processes, including planning, performance measurement and reporting.
People & Talent
  • Support Story Lab colleagues to deliver high performance across the team.
  • Look for opportunities to learn from colleagues, and join internal and external training programmes and events to build and maintain excellent content-creation skills.
  • Build and maintain a network of key stakeholders across the Bank.
Risk Management
  • Support Story Lab in adhering to the Group's operational risk management framework.
  • Manage for reputational risk, flagging and escalating issues as appropriate.
Governance
  • Maintain awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework in which the Group operates, as well as the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role.
  • Support content projects in adherence to the appropriate governance structure.
  • Help ensure continuous improvement and excellence in content governance.
Regulatory & Business Conduct
  • Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group's Values and Code of Conduct.
  • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank. This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.
  • Lead the Story Lab team to achieve the outcomes set out in the Bank's Conduct Principles.
  • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters.

Our Ideal Candidate
  • 5+ years' experience in corporate communications, PR, publishing and/or journalism.
  • Strong planning skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work in high-pressure environments.
  • Ability to develop effective and collaborative working relationships.
  • Experience of managing multiple stakeholders, including senior management and third-party vendors, across multiple locations.
