  • Min 10 years of exp gained as a market research analyst or economist or data analyst. Experience can be gained in commodity/ mining/ consultancy/ shipping/government sectors.
  • Previous proven experience in commodity or mining sector is a plus but not a must. Added product knowledge covering metallurgical coal, nickel and copper is beneficial but strong cands without these product experience will be considered.
  • Highly developed quantitative analysis, forecasting and modelling exp is required

Our client is an international commodity trading/mining MNC who is a strong market leader in its field.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a high performing and passionate team where you as Principal Market Analyst will lead the development of timely commodity insights to inform, influence and optimise commercial and strategic outcomes. In addition, you will formulate the firm's ong-term market view on specific commodities through in depth analysis of demand and supply drivers. You will have the opportunity to gain exposure to ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance)focussed priorities and contribute to the thinking on the firm's decarbonisation strategy.

We are open to suitable cands now based overseas who is keen to apply. This role can be based in Singapore (1st preference) or Perth (2nd preference).

Reporting to the Group Economist and Manager Commodity Analysis, key role accountabilities include:
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders including front office and other Principal market analysts to form an aligned commodity market view and drive value in our commercial activities
  • Conduct deep dive market analysis on demand and supply drivers where necessary to develop long-term price forecasts, risk outlook and identify growth opportunities
  • Influence stakeholders through both written work and verbal presentations
  • Drive innovation and improvement in data analysis and forecasting methodologies
  • Lead and manage select cross-team projects, such as consultancy studies
  • Coach and support other team members to ensure delivery against performance targets
  • Engage with external stakeholders including industry analysts to deepen market intelligence network and represent the firm's view

About You

You will be required to have the following:
  • Min 10 years of exp gained as a market research analyst or economist or data analyst. Experience can be gained in commodity/ mining/ consultancy/ shipping/government sectors.
  • Previous proven experience in commodity or mining sector is a plus but not a must. Added product knowledge covering metallurgical coal, nickel and copper is beneficial but strong cands without these product experience will be considered.
  • Highly developed quantitative analysis ability
  • Strong in performing forecasting and modelling work
  • Open to covering both short term and long term analysis work
  • Good understanding of key geographical markets including China, India, Europe and the US (a plus but not a must)
  • Strong collaborative skills. Team based with an inclusive mindset to value and integrate different perspectives
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written with the ability to distil key insights and messages.
  • Solid knowledge of MS Office suite, with experience in data science or analytics will be an advantage

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Statistics or Business
