IADS
The role sits within the Investment Analytics and Data Services (IADS) business line, a part of BNP Paribas Securities Services. The business mission is to design, promote and maintain best-in-class analytics and reporting solutions, as well as new data services. These solutions are tailored for institutional investors, to support their regulatory obligations, investment models and meet their increased demands for data consolidation and advanced analytics. The three key pillars of the business are:
  • a Trusted Data factory that supports the business through advanced data models and services
  • a best-in-class Business Analytics & Reporting offer to provide clients with advanced analytics
  • technical expertise and product consulting for internal and external clients of Investment Analytics in Asia Pacific

Purpose of the role:

The purpose of the role is to work as Product Development Manager in Contractual Investment Conpliance (CIC) within IADS, being able to articulate our suite of investment analytics solutions including Compliance as well as provide efficient support to the client and the local client line / sales. There are five core aspects to the role:

Product development: Prepare business case documentation on the cost side as requested. Act as Product Developer: contribute to the integration of the research in a scalable & flexible IT infrastructure, in coordination with the BA & IT teams. The product developer role is to provide the business needs, validate the solutions, & ensure all risks are cleared and all teams are ready for production (operational readiness, owner of the New Product Acceptance process...).

Product management: Monitor the regulation across various locations where BNP Paribas Securities Services provide service and identify the possible product changes; Undertake analysis of existing product mix, comparing to market demands and competitor products. The main goal is to package & standardize the offer to strengthen the sales & increase the P&L. This work is to be done closely with Operations, finance & strategy teams, via the change management and new Product Acceptance governance. The products have to evolve to be in phase with the regulatory changes, the competition & the client demands.

Expert support of production and sales teams: Support Ops and sales teams on non-standard clients and prospects topics; use these feedbacks from clients and prospects to propose improvements of IRP processes. Provide client presentation and articulate our strategy, roadmap and our business solution

Continuous product learning and communication: the role requires in depth knowledge of products, as well as a comprehensive awareness of market trends and demands. As such undertake regular training on new IADS products, and share knowledge within IADS and the Product and Client Development teams. Attend industry forums and seminars to keep up to date.

Research & Innovation: Use client meetings, conferences, feedback from Product Sales Specialists to identify areas of investment where new product should be developed or our existing product strengthen. Take advantage of internal, academic & regulatory research to allow IRP products to stay at the edge of innovation. Develop proof of concepts & prototypes in to answer to client needs. Document the research undertaken to feed the product development & management streams or to write articles that will promote IADS expertise. Share the knowledge with IADS and BNP Paribas teams.

Key Responsibilities

Product development
  • Work to develop market leading services and products aligned to the strategic objectives of IADS and BNP Paribas (specifics to be agreed via objective setting process)
  • Design and oversee the implementation of innovative solutions that meet the requirements of clients and the market (including ESG)
  • Produce - in coordination with ops & IT teams - the cost part of business cases for new development proposals
  • Understand implementation and ongoing costs of a new product
  • Understand risks involved for IADS and BNP Paribas
Product management:
  • Watch for regulatory changes & client demands on existing product
  • Work closely with Ops teams to describe enhancement of the products
  • Validate changes from the "product" perspective via the change management governance
  • Owner of Product acceptance process when necessary
  • Train Ops teams on existing and new products
Business development :
  • Assist Sales and Relationship to articulate solution and services
  • Provide product expertise to support business solution locally when IA products are involved
  • Support local pricing proposals
  • Answer queries from Sales teams on non-standard topics
Continuous product learning and communication
  • Maintain and develop awareness and knowledge of competitors' offering and market/regulatory changes
  • Maintain IADS product knowledge to provide first line sales presentation support on all subjects
  • Work closely with the global IADS Product Sales specialists and Product team to understand and develop the scope of IRP's offer
  • Understand all products of IADS in addition to Investment Compliance, Risk Analytics, Performance, ex post Risk, Exposure and Allocation analysis, Equity and Fixed Income Performance Attribution, ESG and where appropriate develop specialist expertise
  • Work with Marketing teams to promote IADS outside of BNP Paribas and speak at conferences to attract market attention
Research & Innovation:
  • Monitor the market place and existing clients, identifying trends and potential opportunities for new product development / investment
  • Undertake competitor analysis
  • Create prototypes internally or via client co-creation to bring added value for IADS and BNP Paribas
  • Search for strategic partnerships & participate in conferences

PROFILE
Technical Experience:

Required
  • Masters degree in finance or equivalent
  • 6 years of experience in the financial services industry, with at least 2 years of product management experience on asset services products
  • Experience in quantitative finance, Performance or Risk measurement activities
  • Institutional market experience preferred, especially on Asian markets
  • Demonstrated success defining and launching products in Investment Compliance analytics
  • Deep theoretical knowledge of financial instruments (equity, fixed income, derivatives, swaps, forwards, mutual funds...)
  • Strong understanding of financial markets and investment management processes
  • Advanced mathematical skills to build quantitative models and tests scenarios
  • Good knowledge of at least one development language (VBA, C/C++, Matlab, Python, R ...) & capacity to write algorithms in Python.
