- Direct the end-to-end rating process, systems and controls ensuring that quality, timeliness and compliance standards are consistently met. Coach and mentor analysts and team leaders on rating criteria, policy and methodology.
- Maintain a highly effective and efficient control environment that meets local CRA regulatory as well as broader legal and internal governance and compliance requirements. Chair rating committee meetings ensuring that company policies, procedures, and rating methodology are consistently complied with.
- Contribute to the development of world-class rating criteria that reflects regional market conditions as well as to the development and implementation of enhancements to internal workflow processes and controls.
Leadership and team management
- Lead, engage and manage the development of a team of professional staff, building a culture of high performance through effective goal setting, technical supervision, training, performance evaluation and delegation of authority; ensure high standards of quality, productivity and compliance are met at all times.
- Hold regular 1-to-1, team and whole-office meetings with the objective of allocating work, monitoring performance, managing priorities, and keeping employees informed as well as engendering a sense of team spirit and commitment across the office. Ensure resources are appropriately allocated and budgets are prudently managed. Coordinate the activities of the office with those of other global analytical teams.
- As a member of the global analytics management team, establish and maintain strong effective internal relationships and communication channels, including with colleagues in other AM Best Group companies; help guide the business into the future, actively leading on a range of operational planning and internal initiatives and championing change.
Market knowledge and interaction
- Contribute to building AM Best's brand and reputation ensuring the analytical voice is effectively heard by providing thought leadership to internal stakeholders, external market participants and clients on key industry topics as well as AM Best methodology and processes. Demonstrate expert knowledge and insight through a range of different channels including representing AM Best at industry events, networking, seminars, and conferences, and through the production of special reports, analytical comment in the press etc.
- Manage high profile / complex relationships with rated companies maintaining trust and confidence in the AM Best brand.
- Utilise insurance market contacts (clients, brokers, regulators and others) to establish new connections and communicate AM Best value proposition, including products and services, to external audiences building corporate brand and reputation.
- Keep up to date with relevant industry, market and professional developments through continued professional education, training and development
You will report to Managing Director, Analytics EMEA & Asia Pacific Ratings.
Requirements:
- Extensive knowledge of the insurance industry, both life and non-life.
- Highly developed financial analysis skills, ideally gained within the credit-rating industry; strong knowledge of financial markets and economic/industry trends.
- Knowledge of the Southeast Asia and Australia & New Zealand insurance industries would be an advantage.
- Managed a portfolio of clients, including high-profile companies.
- Built and developed positive and productive relationships externally with clients and industry contacts, and internally with employees and management.
- Lead teams, providing both people and task leadership in a fast-paced environment.
- Worked in a regulated environment. Knowledge of CRA regulatory and compliance frameworks and policies ideal.
- Lead and chaired meetings.
- Experience of presenting at conferences, seminars and liaising with press.
- Writen detailed reports for management and external Degree-holder, ideally in insurance, finance or accounting related subjects.

- The role will involve regular international travel, during the course of the year across SEA to ANZ and occasional trips to the USA.
